Default dash differences

hi all,

apparently the the fairmont and xr's have different dashes. i originally thought this meant a difference in instrumentation, but i'm starting to think it means more like the analog clock, etc.

can anyone outline the differences?

thanks.

Perhaps you are talking about the instrumentation cluster?

the whole dash lol. the bit that takes up the whole front of the car, that houses the instrument clutser, glove box, steering wheel, radio. heating controls and so on.

essentially yes but the fairmont does have a different layout for them and the inclusion of climate control.

If youre asking what the difference in equipment offered between Fairmont and XR dash the only real difference is the analogue clock and climate control on a Fairmont dash and not an XR one. The rest is all there its just laid out differently

TE - Same as you're Falcon/XR range (besides Instument Cluster which is an XR)

TS - Same as the Fairmont's

TL- Same as TS

excellent, that shows it clearly. thanks for the pics.

now, if i may hijack my own thread for just a min...firstly i'll say: why didn't ford come up with a different colour for the xr instruments? blue instruments on any other colour car apart from blue just looks silly : though i've seen some white instrument clusters around which would be my pick (not sure if they're aftermarket though).

secondly, anyone have any ideas how hard it would be to fit fairmont climate control into an xr? (just out of curiosity)

thanks.

I was sure I've seen some TE's on various sites that have the Fairmont style interior?

Yeah, just to clarify this TE thing only applies to the AUIII. Riksta, you are also correct, and to be more precise with your observation - it would apply to the earlier AU series of the TE.

Fire off a PM to T3man as he has done the conversion on one of his T3's from the "XR Dash" or Ford correctly termed "Low Series Dash" to the Fairmont specced "High Series Dash".

Ahh ok so T1 & T2 TE dashes were high spec and T3 TE dashes were Low Specced?

I kinda wondered how come some TE's I saw were high spec and why others were low spec.
