What's the problem with it? Highway patrol cars are the best cop cars you can buy.

They're immaculately maintained. What other car gets its diff oil changed every 10,000km. The brakes get changed way before it needs and they get religiously serviced.

Most of its life is spent idling and the foot doesn't usually go down until the car's at operating temperature. Most highway patrol cars aren't flogged much harder than most owners flog their cars and the engines are more than equipped to handle it.

Plus, it also has the balance of the new car warranty to fix anything wrong with the car.

The GD cars around the city on the other hand get the crap flogged out of them and police have a habit of not respecting speed bumps (at all) and a fair few handbrakes have been ripped out by potential drift kings.

The police V6's live hard lives they were never designed to take. But powering from 0-150kmh in a warmed up engine a few times a day is well within the capabilities of a powerful engine.

Highway patrol cars are bloody good buys considering the deflated price attached to them.

I had an ex QLD general duties AU Forte as a daily driver and it served me really well. I payed bugger all for it, had it for twelve months and I didn’t spend a cent on it. It was lowered and handed better that the BA I’ve replaced it with. :hihi:

I think that a lot of it comes down to the people who actually drive the car. I’ve met HWP blokes who are full on car enthusiasts, and others who see their cars as just a tool for doing the job. I must admit, the F6 in the ad looks very tidy and If I were in the market for one of these, I’d give it some serious consideration.

As I said in the other thread about the same topic, I went and had a look at it today and it is is immaculate condition. It doesn't even have any wear marks from the light bar, or scuffs in the interior from all the comms gear. For 35K, it is an absolute steal.

When I bought my BA XR8, they were going for the $35k mark and I paid $22k for my late '05 model in November '06.

There were a few niggly little items, but they all got done under warranty and everything else is awesome. The log book is so thorough it's not funny, they have a seperate page for stuff done that isn't required.

I would happily have someone thrash it every now and then if they maintained it that well. The Ford guys also said it was driving beautifully. And why wouldn't it with that much maintenance?

I think you’ll find that it’s the intercooler.
