Default V8 Supercars - trip to Winton

Hi everyone,

Round 9 of the V8 Supercars is being held at Winton Raceway in Victoria on the weekend of August 2nd & 3rd. This is a round that we as a club have attended in the last few years and is always a great weekend. Winton is about 1 hour’s drive south of Albury.

The plan is to leave Canberra mid-morning on Saturday 1st and travel to Albury (about 4 hour’s travel). We stay overnight in Albury and then first thing on Sunday travel to Winton, approximately 1 hour’s drive. We then spend the day watching the races before heading back to Canberra – a 5-hour drive (plus time for pit stops).

Accommodation is at the Albury Town House Hotel – website here. Cost is $110-$115 per night for a double room and the hotel backs onto a services club so its nice and close for dinner and drinks.

If you would like to join us for a great weekend away, please ad your name to the list below.

It is up to each individual to book their own accommodation - contact details can be found via the above website link.

Looking forward to a great weekend away.

Cheers,

Richard

Just over 2 weeks to go - looking forward to this one!

At the last club meeting we had about 6 hands go up from people who said they were interested in attending this event. At this point in time we just have 4 vehicles. For those who are interested in coming away for a great weekend, please add your name(s) to the list below NOW.

We'll be meeting at the Shell EPIC on Saturday August 2 from 9.30am, departing at 10am. The plan is to get to Albury at about 3pm and maybe duck next door to the services club to watch race 1 on the big screen.

Entry tickets for the Sunday are $55 per person, or $75 per person if you want pit paddock access. Its a good idea to get your tickets in advance as it saves lots of mucking around on the morning. Tickets can be purchased online from the Winton Raceway website HERE.

In previous years we have parked our cars in a display with the FPV & XR Owners Club of Victoria, and it looks like we'll be doing the same this year. We should have final confirmation this week but I don't think it will be a problem. The display area is about 100 metres from the track.

My work calendar was clear but now I am required to jet away to a distant place. I am now unable to participate.

Ok guys, meeting point is now Federation Square at Gold Creek, just off the Barton Highway. Get there from 9.30am onwards, looking to leave by 10am. Don't forget to bring your UHF radio!

We should have time to get checked in at Albury and then duck over to the services club to watch race 1.

By the way, here is the weather forecast for the weekend:

Saturday (Albury): Top of 13 degrees. Partly cloudy. Drizzle patches, 30% chance of rain
Sunday (Winton): Top of 11 degrees. Partly cloudy. Drizzle patches, 30% chance of rain

Looks delightful - make sure you pack the thermals and a raincoat/umbrella!

It wasn't cold, and the rain (cough light drizzle) passed quickly. Turned into a great day.

Pics to follow....
