I could understand the intake might not fit if they were using the Mazda CX9 version of the motor - no big deal really. Fairlane, that is true about the Jag XJ40 but the Falcon takes a V8 whereas the XJ40 was designed not to fit a V-engine - which caused them a lot of hassle when they eventually decided to put the V12 in, shot themselves in the foot there! MoreHP, the current Commodore & Aurion would also be EuroIII cars as they were released well before the EuroIV introduction. EuroIV compatibility will only be an ECU reflash away though as they are global engines with alloy blocks (the 2 obstacles to the I6)

Yeah and the SOHC 4.6 V8 wouldn't fit in to replace the 5.0 either, somehow they wedged the larger 5.4 in it with quad cams. I even bet they did make V10 GTHO prototypes too.

Let’s have a look at the “quality” journalism from Kerri-Anne Hobbs from the Geelong Advertiser. She’s obviously not a car person and by the sounds of it, might want to stir the pot and create a little bit of controversy amongst locals.
Did Ford’s spokeswoman really refer to the car maker as the “bule circle” or is this woman, Kerri-Anne Hobbs just an absolute twit. I didn’t realise that Ford were in the business of selling cement. Perhaps the Geelong Advertiser should put this journalist in a taxi and show her the difference between the Blue Circle plant at Waurn Ponds and the blue oval plant at Norlane. As others have already pointed out. If Ford can shoehorn a Boss into a Falcon, they should be able to put a V6 into anything, and still be able to close the bonnet.

One of the dealers told me that the N/A V6 would be a 3.8 ltr engine. The other V6 to be fitted was a twin turbo 4.0 ltr engine. Does this sound about right?

Also they fit the duratec v6 in to a focus rs so in a falcon should be simple. Some journo trying to make a story from nothing . Also they had been testing the v6 duratec in the bf they were testing it in the you yangs.

Maybe they are puting it in sideways and Ford is going down they front wheel drive path.
But maybe it just wont fit in the engine bay with the 2 tubo's mounted for the Typhoon. : |

This is the biggest load of crap, and as already stated, they tested the v6 in the bf.
If VW can fit a 3.2 v6 into a golf, then im sure a 3.5 will fit into a falcon with ease, so no need for cheap nasty journolism

If there's any way it couldn't fit into a Falcon, it would have to be the hight of the inlet manifold, most likely because it probably has Eco-Boost technology fitted to it. That's my theory anyway.

I'm with all the other guys on here....totally BS on this article. I would say union official makes call to some buddy in newspaper business....spin some crap for me mate.......
Said editor gives it to reporter to write up.....totall non-car person (there must be some in geelong one would think, but maybe not) and presto....grade A you now what journalism. I have had a total gutfull of journalism right now....sure there is a always some bias etc., but methinks that even a few years ago journalists did some basic research and the facts in stories (ah... blue circle.....) were just that: facts. If they couldn't confirm it they woudl say so, or put it down to 'rumours' etc. Journalists now are just lazy, whether its the business as a whole (lots of bloggin these days) or poor training/mentoring or what, but i'm over it. This story is a beat up of the highest order....thank god it was only an isolated newspaper. FFS can't these people even use google! Don't even get me started on this 'Qantas is unsafe' mallarkey going on the moment. Can you say BEAT UP. As an aviation buff i'm pretty up to date with things in the business, frequent all the online forums etc., and while qantas certainly aint perfect (had many operational issues in recent years.....too many reasons to mention) apart from the obviously very serious cabin explosion incedent the rest is total rubbish. Regular operational problems for ALL airlinest WORLDWIDE....but no, only qantas has that happen to them. This kinda stuff killed Mitsu in this country....now Qantas and Ford are next So much for not ranting.... : |

Maybe they are trialling a W engine configuration to rival the mighty Veyron which in ute configuration would still have plenty of room( for the rural buyer) to cart the sheep dip and crotching tools
