Default car floats

gday peoples,

yesterday a friend informed me that he thinks there has been a change to car floats .
he seems to think that you now need a tow truck drivers licence to use/tow them, and a hefty fine may apply.

can anyone shed some light on this.

steve

no way. if the car can tow the weight legally you can to it on unresricted licence. Check towbar for weight.

Well, with those figures, you're just under the limit with your trailer, and if your hitch is rated at 3.5t then you're still well within legal limits in terms of tow vehicle.

In Qld as far as I know you don't need a special licence to tow a car on a trailer. Unless there some new rule that has just been brought out.

Check with the transport dept for aux brake requirements. The vehicle owner's manual will specify the towing capability of the vehicle.
