Default XR5T Auto?

Hey guys,

My Girlfriend absolutly loves the XR5T's but doesn't have a manual licence, besides the obvious choice of getting here to learn, is there an Automatic Version in sight?

Dura shift sounds about right! Everything in ford EU world is called dura something.... its apparantly the same DSG gearbox they are fitting to 2.2 auto diesel mondeo's......

I would love one and hopefully the premium for the slef shifter will noty be too high. having a manual TDCI means you have lots of gears to change

The only one I've heard about is called "Power-shift"... but Dura-shift definitely sounds more Ford and far more technical than Power! Still I'd be keen to see perfomance figures of a manual XR5 turbo Vs a DSG style auto XR5 turbo... if VW's Golf's are anything to go by then a DSG focus would be a cracking car!!

Why pay 5k to loose my 3rd favourite pedal? I love that little guy

But seriously, DSG boxes can be very quick, but they'll never have that fluid balance of a smooth heel toe at just the right time...although some of them do a cool little blip of the throttle

Just seems like a gimmick, unless you're paying 300k for a supercar...and even then I'd rather shift my own gears...

if she is on her red P's then she should wait a year till she is on her greens and she can drive either,

or if not, wait till she gets her full licence and teach her manual.

Best Option and thus allows you to enjoy the fruits of your labour (brownie Points) and enjoy a manual XR5T.

There are a few good DSG boxes out there but give me the gear box and clutch any day the most fun to drive.

i spose an auto version will sell a bunch more but they should keep them manual only.
imo, unless the person is disabled everyone should have to get their licence in a manual

That was the question I asked when i bought mine. Can I get it in Auto.

As much as I love the XR5, I hate changing gears and I want it in Auto.

You guys need to pull your heads out of the sand (wadr) and realise the potential of this new generation of automatics. I agree that a manual transmission will always be more fun... provided your on a track and your good enough with the heel toe technique. But really these DSG style gearbox's are amazing, they were designed to be faster than any human at changing gears... plus they are, in most cases, more fuel efficient than both traditional torque converter auto's and manuals! :

So if Ford has any chance of competing with the likes of VW (in the hot hatch market anyway) they would be stupid not to offer a dual clutch auto along side a conventional manual...

horses for courses dude.

BTW, now that you've mentioned it, can anyone actually heel-toe in their focus??, i've tried since the day i bought it and i can't do it without stabbing the brake hard. For me, it's set too high and to far back from the brake pedal.

I hate to say it but a DSG Golf GTi will Beat an XR5 turbo thanks to its Gearbox and .6 hundredth of a second shifts....Even with the slick Getrag Box in the T5...shift times are just in another world.
Dura-shift in an XR5?? Bye bye MPS3, GTI, VXR....

If that was an option i'd just let her drive the XR8 lets just say it's a sensitive issue.
