I'm eagerly awaiting the green light to pick up my G6E. Just a thought & a query.
How many km's should this car have when I drive it away from the showroom ? I'd imagine that the car should have been driven to test it out. Surely the car would not be driven from the manufacturing plant to the dealership! (No I'm not trying to be stupid, maybe naive). I would be expecting approximately 10 km's. Would this be correct ? What if your new car has 50km's on it ??? What would you do ? |

if it is new you would think none but you do have to factor in the fact that it does have to be moved around to be delivered to the car seller

Also depends on wether any accessories are fitted to the vehicle off-site prior to delivery.
My last vehicle purchase had sun roof and tints done off-site prior to delivery. |

5 to 10 kays is reasonable. If you have tinting etc done, they will have to drive it there and back, which adds up if the tinter is in the next suburb.

well at my work we do the pre delivery checks on the car. that includes putting petrol in it and taking it around the block to test that every thing works ( eg cruise control, abs and so on)
usuall by the time it reaches the customer its around 7-10 kays

Mine had 74k's on it when I picked it up.
 : Queried the salesman about it and had a rant to the dealer principal. Ended up with $200 of free fuel. |

The longer a car sits in the yard, the more likely it is that it will be test driven.
My AU XR6 had 21 k on it when I took it for a test drive, 174 by the time I brought it, all my k's but. We took it home for a night. Great knowing the Salesman!

If they use it for testing it normally has a sticker saying so. Mu AUII Ute was tested, the BA wasn't.

Picked up the G6E with 75km's on it ...... not worried or concerned at all! Sat nav was done at the dealers. The tow pack was done away from the dealer. Wouldnt have cared if it was 100km's ...... still new

The 307 had 37kms on it when we picked it up.
It will probably al depend on what aftermarket options you are getting installed and where the dealer gets them done.

A lot of cars get road tested before they even leave the factory. These will end up being delivered to the customer with high double digit kms. You see them leaving Holden on trade plates all the time.
As the others have said, the dealer will drive them to tint shops etc too. My LS Focus had 24km and my Fiesta XR4 had 25km. Both tinted at the same place....
