EPA related Query

I know these questions have been thrown around alot. Alot of people i have talked to have said many different things. So, looking at this document,

Am i correct in saying THAT, Pod filters that arent oiled are allowed out of an enclosure?

THAT, extractors and exhaust systems ok provided they meet emissions standards and arent above 90 db, but at what distance is this measured? 90 DB can be rather loud.

???

Also, do these standards govern Vic roads standards? or does vic roads have there own standards which craps all over the EPA.

90db isnt really loud at all, and my understanding has always been pod filters were illegal if they were not concealed in an airbox - i wouldnt have one outside the box anyway as it would just be sucking in hot air(unless it was ducted straight into an airvent in the front away from the engine)

from reading that i think it means a different sort of pod filter. Ie the ones that sit on top of the engine like on carby v8's etc? thats just what im thinkin it means.

For those barra NA guys wanting to put 3" intake piping instead of the standard piping and were wondering about the lil rubber tube -

"PCV systems return oil and fuel vapours from the engine block to the engine intake system for combustion in a similar manner to the evaporative emissions control system. This reduces the levels of hydrocarbons emitted from the vehicle.
‘Catch Cans’ must be plumbed back into the vehicle’s control system. Atmospheric venting is not permitted."

this is the same for NSW and QLD

Doesnt say it has to be in an airbox though :P im thinking more for sound reasons instead of performance.

90 db depending on the distance measured would be a reasonable sound for a I6 owner :P

just did a refresher course for my roadworthy licence today.

pod filter (non oiled) is roadworthy, must be secured and not flapping around and doesnt have to be enclosed

pod filter (oiled type) still roadworthy enclosed or not BUT not epa legal due to emissions.

pod filter on turbo car with intercooler is roadworthy BUT not epa legal.

what is legal with vic roads may not be legal with epa, they are 2 different govrning bodies.
