Default 'Hobo polar bear' causes panic in US

Sorry this is another of my crappy threads that will probably get closed but I laughed.

A bomb squad has been called in to take down a "hobo polar bear" that had commuters alarmed outside a train station in the US.

Passersby on the street first noticed the shabbily-dressed figure standing by a rubbish bin outside the Columbia Heights Metro station in Washington DC soon after daybreak, nbc4.com reports.

Huge crowds gathered to watch the scene while train services were halted before police gave the all-clear.

The local station was closed for almost two hours as the matter was investigated.

The bomb squad arrived hours later and tore the "bear" apart, revealing what appeared to be an elaborate costume and a great deal of stuffing.

Local bloggers immediately began circulating theories to explain its presence, with one believing the "bear" was most likely a Mark Jenkins art installation commenting on global warming.

Jenkins has left similar-looking street art in locations across the globe, ranging from man-horse hybrids to figures stuck upside down in rubbish bins.

"Did anyone see it move?" wrote blogger DCist.

Another theory was it was the same costume bear which had been seen around the US capital holding placards bemoaning climate change and other environmental issues.

Authorities are yet to give their own explanation for the incident.

thats almost as funny as when they thought the mooninites were bombs!

Oh, you viral marketers and tricksy Adult Swim promo squads, what've you done now? No longer content with offending parents and making the male aged 18-30 demo chortle with glee at their New Jersey debauchery, it would appear Aqua Teen crossed over into real life to wreak havoc promoting the upcoming ATHF movie. Geeky Lite-Brite-like visages of the Mooninites caused shut downs in several transit arteries in Boston, including Interstate 93, the Longfellow Bridge, and Storrow Drive, leaving thousands asking WHAT HAPPENED TO THEIR FRICKIN' CAR?! Strangely, Turner stated that these viral ads have been in place in 10 major cities for between two and three weeks, which leaves one to wonder why no one noticed the strange, pixelated cartoon characters flipping the bird until just this afternoon, and just in Boston.

The bomb squad was called in, resulting in the detonation and destruction of one of these "bombs" and the removal of 4 others. They were actually just a circuit board with LED's in the shape of the big green mooninite below named Inignot.

Sorry about the size of the above pic
