yeah so agree that its marketing. after like a million holdens adds i saw one ford add. And as for us young blokes,.... i get asked this question all the time .

no matter what you do.... its a taxi.
and then you compare falcons so large/bulky to the sleek designs of ricers or even the holdens.

I actually think FoMoCo should increase the remuneration of the management team - my reasoning is best summed up by an old saying - if you pay peanuts, you attract monkeys.

However, I am starting to doubt that Ford Australia will be able to support a business case for a new falcon after 2014, and in my own humble opinion, I think the future for Ford Australia will lie in the Focus and not the Falcon

To all who think the V6 is a better item I look forward to the day Ford have these motors in there new cars and are tested in real world of consumers so you all can eat your words....And yes I do aggree that it is a good idea to have a globel motor in Ford vehicles...

How do you know it hasn't been tested in real life? The motor is already in use with Mazda's CX-9, and it was compared to the Territory with the ZF box. The CX-9 was quicker and more fuel efficient than the Territory. Rolling acceleration was also a win to the CX-9. And the CX-9 isn't a lightweight either!!

I sense some sour grapes with your unproven gripe against the V6.
It won't have the torque of the I6, but the difference will be minimal.
The engine will be lighter, more efficient and have better technology.
I think it is used in some of the US vehicles now (Lincoln, etc), I may be wrong the though.

Power in a Modern Package

Our new 3.5-liter Duratec 35 V6 engine produces 197 Kw's and 339 Nm of torque with a 3.5-liter displacement unit, but it's the same height and width as the less powerful Duratec 30 V6.

I thought the Falc was getting this engine.

A mate of mine has a CX9, it averages 15.5L per 100 klm, what does a Territory with ZF average around town ?

Bar the possibility of direct injection the V6 doesn't even have some things the current straight does, no variable length inlet manifold, no VCT on the exhaust cam and no dual independent VCT either. There's nothing really high tech about it at all. It is all alloy, its only real advantage, and maybe DI if Ford Australia actually use it.

as far i can see it ford can do something about it.thay need to get there heads out of there *** and fire the lazy assers and bring the company off the ground and get going and kick the operset competer in the *** and tell the public that thay do ot use the amount of fuel like the prado and other ones some one was saying.the v6 six can kiss my behind .i feel sorry for the pepole how work in the engine plant at ford how going to get caned and have to keep paying the morgage and other bills while on center link.if was making cars i would employ all of them and not the fat pricks up stars.sorry guys.it upsets me the wat ford is going and treating the staff there like .stef

and how would you feel every night after working there day to day how im going to pay the bills and put food on the table every night and strissing and not sleeping very weel each night.bugger that.if thay want work.i got got work for then here in nsw in my company.thay are most welcome to come and ask me for a job.

You should get a job at Ford and show them how it's supposed to be done. They have a position available there now, in the form of CEO. Make sure you use spell check before sending your interest in the position.

yes and if you pay more peanuts you get gorilla's.
remuneration should be based on performance.if a CEO/management team are offered a reasonable base salary but massive bonuses and incentives based on actual productivity/sales performance you will find the people who apply for the job are the ones who truly want to make it work. cheers.

are you drunk? Very hard to understand what you attempted to write.

Ford's situation won't be fixed overnight.
The I6 was a good engine, but simply not cost effective to get it Euro IV compliant for such a small market. Where else can the engine be used besided barges? Seriously the new V6 will be good and is currently used in the following:

* 2007–present Ford Edge
* 2007–present Lincoln MKX crossover SUVs
* 2007–present Lincoln MKZ
* 2008–present Ford Taurus
* 2008–present Ford Taurus X
* 2008–present Mercury Sable
* 2009–present Ford Flex

Not many like change but unless change happens this company will cease to exist. Stop being so narrow minded, quit looking at the present and look at the future of the company, the industry. There are job losses in all industries, usually due to a downturn, loss of contracts or simply innovating and trimming the fat. There are jobs out there, people just need to look, don't be too picky and have the right attitude to working. Problem with this country is too many people want everything but don't want to work for it. Well we're starting to see the result of that.

If Ford can get an update of the Territory out with Diesel and LPG options they might be able to get somewhere. The Falcon is pretty much where we will see it, I don't see it improving. The Australian car market has grown, we have so many good cars from different manufacturers and a lot of them are better than what is on offer here (don't get me wrong the FG is a great car, but sadly not want people need anymore). I believe the Territory is the key, Focus will help but it needs more exposure and time (The Corolla has been out for decades, the Focus here for 5 - 6 years).

The majority of the problem is that Ford no longer sell enough cars to be able to pay overtime and so on to all the workers. Don't worry about the bosses, even Polites made far less in Auto than he would've in most other games. It's a grassroots issue. The workers no longer have the extra spendolla to not only buy more cars, but support the butchers, bakers and middle class lawyers, accountants, insurance agents and so on who bought all the rest of the cars. What is economically viable and all these little cost savings and reductions that the beancounters all get a pat on the back for, remains as always the long slow death of a thousand cuts. Profitability and shareholder value are all important but what good is a business if it isn't there to for the product and the people? first and foremost.

Hate to resurrect an old(ish) thread but having returned from the US, some people there notioned toward the Duratec 3.7l (200kw/250nm) derivative for the Falcon V6 RWD global platform. The standard Duratec 35 (195kw/335nm) engine will be supplemented by the Duratec 35 twin-turbo (250kw/>460nm) in the same timeframe - whatever that means... ;)
