Default Great little program

I want to up grade the RAM in my home PC , my mate asked me if it was DDR1 or DDR2, i said i didnt know....how do i tell ?

He said pull the back off the tower and check it, or download this little program that tells you absolutely everything about you computer. Windows and Vista compatible.

For those that are interested here is the link
http://www.gtopala.com/siw-download.html

Use the download with the installer.

A few years ago I could tell exactly what it was by looking at the connectors or the model number of the RAM chips. Now I use CPU-Z which is similar to the program you described.

Yeah, CPU-Z seems to be the most popular program of this sort.

+1 for CPU-Z! I use it heaps when working on a PC to avoid having to open the case just to ID the motherboard or RAM. I find it to be quite accurate, and it's a tiny download and free!

just thought id show the differences, so when your computer isnt working and you cant use the program and your asked you will know

SD ram - long dimm modules and 2 notches

DDR2 (on top) square dimm modules and DDR1 (below) long dimm modules, note the notch in different locations

same principle applies to laptop memory

Heh, naked RAM! Can't see the modules on any of my sticks because of the heat spreaders ;)
