my gf has just bought a kh 1.6 laser. the aircon 'system' works it seems. i can hear the compressor actuate, the engine gets a bit more load on it and the a/c engine fan comes on. the problem is that there is no change in temperature, nor any de-humidifing. could it just be that it's out of gas? if so, i'd assume it's all leaked out for there to be no "aircon" effect happening. where should i be checking for leaks? any cheap things i can do to save a wasted regas?
thanks heaps. |

Very possible that its low refrigerant that is the problem.
Best to take it to a mechanic to get that fixed, you can't just top them up yourself anymore. If you are keen to look for a leak, start at all the pipe joins and use a soap solution. Wipe it over the joins and look for bubbles. (If the system is completely empty you won't see bubbles remember)

most places put a dye in the system free of charge to find the leak, then they will charge you when they fix it and re gass it. but be carefull our mazda had die in the coolant to find a leak a long time ago and when they checked the a/c gas they found die all over the engine bay took them 3 weeks to figure out that it was coolant they could see not ac gas.

it could be the TX valve not working ( regulates the gas flow inside the car )
look for bubbles in the sight glass of the dryer (cylinder in engine bay )
