Default Moving gear stick

Hey all

I just got my engine mount done and ever since, the gear knob, while ur accelerating hard and going over bumps the gear stick moves all over the place. Ive had both engine mounts now replaced in the last 6 months what else could it be?
Also there is a clonk/banging noise when hitting bumps semi hard. Is there and gearbox mounts or sumthin like that could cause this??

All sugestions appreciated

There is a gearbox mount, back of the box at the crossmember.

Mine had a rubber bush on the mount that needed replacing, and fixed it straight away.

All Au's do it as far as I know. There has to be give as if you hit a big bump at 100 K's, and nothing in the gearbox moved (ie, your gear stick), something would break.

all live axle cars will do it, but theoretically irs cars shouldn't as the actual diff housing shouldn't move with the rear suspension. the centre is fixed and the arms move, thus the driveshaft shouldn't move when the wheels do...unlike live axle, which does

Mine neva used to do it as much as it does now. I understand a little movement can happen, but its wobbling a bit more than usual.
It happens at any speed not just at fast speeds. It more the clunk im wondering about too.

Check gearbox mount. They mave have undone it or loosened it when changing the engine mount. The geatrbox mount may have broken with the extra transfer of force from the new engine mount. This has happened to me in a V8 NL.

I had a quick look today, still looks like the left extractor is still leaning on the crossmember! Which could be the knockin noise over bumps.

Has anyone else had these problems when putting extractors on? I dont know how it could still be hitting with the new mount?
Any ideas??

I didnt acually put the extractor or mount it. Local mechanic had done it. I would have went bak by now, just havent had the time

If the extractor is leaning on the crossmember after a mechanic fitted it i would be rushing back there and getting him to fix that straight away.

The extractors on my lowered AU2 used to hit the frame somewhere. Exhaust place ended up heating them a bit, and reshaping them to clear (read that as belting with a hammer). They also ground down the head of one bolt on the drivers side for clearance, but left enough to get a spanner on still.
