Whats the difference between the XCAL 2 and the CAPA flash tuner box? Which one would you recommend?

Blue Power is no longer using the old style flash boxes due to the flash box no longer covered by SCT/CAPA warranty.
For this reason to do the right thing by our customers we will only use XCAL2, Live Wire.

This is special will run for a while yet.

No thats not correct.

I am talking about buying new Ford Flash 1 Boxes.
If i was to buy from SCT/CAPA a Ford Flasher 1 and it was dead, there would be nothing i could do about it getting my money back... even if we tuned your car and then you took your box home and tried to reflash your car and the box failed, there is nothing that can be done and your $450 is wasted.

For this reason we wont sell New ford flasher 1 boxes and thats why the price has dropped.

Would owning a XCAL 2 help us interstate customers get more accurate tunes remotely, e.g. we log data after a mod, send the box and data to you, and Chris fixes up the tunes based on the data provided? Is the data that is being logged sufficient enough for Chris to make the necessary tweaks?

Additionally, noting the adjustments the XCAL 2 allows the owner to make, could the owner send (email) the logged data to Blue Power and then Chris provide some tuning advice over the phone based on that data?

It seems the XCAL 2 does provide the owner some flexibility but I'm not sure how much of a burden Blue Power want to take on to support this flexibility.

Thanks for above, with this statement is that not wrong, normal consumer protection would say if you purchased an item and it was faulty, then you get your money back regardless.

otherwise these items should clearly state at time of purchse discontinued line no warranty supplied etc, but they do not ( that i can see ) so you would be within full rights as a consumer to be reimbursed for a faulty product.

? or am i wrong

I can put it this way ...
If you came to a CAPA dealer and got a tune and we sold you today a Flash 1 box( The Old style) and it all worked fine till you tried to use it 1 month later, there isnt any warranty on the unit.
Capa/SCT wont replace the unit and you would be up for a new flash tuner and no way of having a factory tune...

i have never had or used a flash tuner, but i am very interested at the moment,
does the box( flash 2 ) need to be constantly connected to car or does it just flash new tune in as first box does, i only ask because of all the new features and i would have thought the box needs to be hooked up to perform some of these features whilst driving, and can we the owner adjust any settings or does special software need to be required for this, lastly how many tunes does it come with and what gains could i expect, ive got a 05 xr 6 auto non turbo done 38,ooo klms 21/2 cat back, typhoon snorkel + extra and k&n panel filter , cooler thermostat? a single custom tune for this with firmer shifts, plus postage to loganlea qld ? thanks for your help, brett. :

Hey Marty,

I have had one for about a year now and being able to change parameters such as ignition timing, rev limit, and shift firmness are very very handy. These things are great.

Only problem is I am finding it hard to make an excuse to visit BPR :

Can I just double check that a custom tune is $895? I just have to organize my new diff first, with new gears.. Or doesn't that matter to the tune? Or should I wait till after my diff to get the tunes?
