Anyways, I think tonight there is going to be a lot of poo hung on young drivers, my mate is featuring in this one when school asked him to do a defensive driving thing for 60 minutes down at Calder, anyways they had him in a Toyota Camry and he was doing stupid stuff like ripping up the handbrake while driving and hitting the cones and being a in general, I have a feeling its going to be a "Young drivers cant handle powerful cars" rapeage on P platers.

Starting to get old this stuff. P Platers IMO already pay pretty high insurance premiums for their rubbish, inexperienced driving. It has little to do with the cars i believe. I learnt to drive in Dads old SS V8s and I learnt to respect the extra power in these cars. Pretty much any car you can gt into trouble with doing stupidities..

At the VW drive day we had the 10m crafter up on three wheels out on the skid pan. I'm a hoon and the VW people had to encourage me to drive harder.

I'm talking to my mate now and he said the thing they showed in the commercial was where he had to dodge the dummy in the middle of the road, he done it the first time then the second time, he told the instructor that he was going to hit it, anyway he sped up over 40, and purposely hit it, thats the one they are showing....
60 minutes and the like are propaganda machines.

I have no issues with limitations on new drivers, old or not so old, I am yet to see a convincing argument re allowing new drivers (L or P platers) to be behind the wheel of lets say a F6, GT, etc etc. |

The only other alternative is Government legislation re performance cars, no one wants to see blanket bans so limitations on new drivers is reasonable, does not make for a better drivers though. |

After a fatel crash here in Perth a few months ago involving a 1.8L 4pot non turbo, gov had to rethink about restriction on P platers. Cos it can happen in any car not just high powered. They said that there is not enough evidents that high powered car are the proplem.
Its only the high powered car accidents that the show on the news. There is a thread somewhere on some forum, by memory only 2% of fatel crashes are caused by high powered P platers. Back on topic. Personaly I may watch it but still wont change my mind that there should not be restrictions for P platers. Just need to be better training. Sure its may have improved in the ten plus years since I got mine but there is always room for more. |

Old people are just as bad as young people. poping multipal pills all day driving when they cant even see street signs or see what colored light is up at intersection and bad reflexes
How many old people do you here about crashing throw shop windows and saying I pushed the wrong pedal. How hard do these people push the wrong pedal, what mash it to the floor. |

One more rant
I was the workshop the other week and old man gat out of his car he could berely walk. I mean each step was each foot was still next to each other when he walked. What do you think would happen if a car was pull out in front of him, by the time he moves his foot BANG. Sure he may drive half the speed of most people but still. |

Sensationalism at its best.
Perhaps I should release a whirlwind story about pointless current affairs shows, and how they distort data to release twisted information. Ooops, sorry. Agendas and all that... Cuba time...

Maybe could be that lot more younger on road than older (when I say older I mean 60+years old)
They may not always be in fatel crashes but in accidents that should not happen (driving trough shop windows from a stand still position) Is the guy on tv tonight in one of the training car with the big training wheels that are there to spin out on purpose. I have had to do a defencive driver training course for work. Anyone else done one? |

I like to see all these statistics, each demagraghic has there bad drivers, i'd go as far to say that 90% of all drivers no matter what age or experiance they have would fail a driving test, as long as there are cars on the road and ppl driving them there will be numb nuts behind the wheel of all ages, funny isn't it this week it's young drivers last week it was truck drivers next it will be older drivers where will it stop.

Expect to get it. Unfortunately to P plates mixed with the morons that do act like idiots get stuck in people's head. Then coupled with the media P Plater = Bad. Mind you the amount of morons out there with no plates is quite large. But you see they have learned to drive like with less crashes.

Seemed well balanced to me.. if nothing more atleast these segments keep it top of mind and keep pressure on people to drive safely.

Age doesn't matter. People need to stop putting blame on others. If there is a problem, fix it.
Our example is the whole world against P platers. What’s the problem? They cause too many accidents. What’s the real salutation, better training and driver’s aid when teaching these L platers to drive. What’s really going on? Nothing but media putting on a false persona on the ones who need it the least amount. Out of all drivers, P platers are the ones people should be helping. What’s going on? Opposite. To the majority of Aus, P = Deadly, stupid, up him/her self driver. And that’s because of 2 reasons. One, Media. The second, the sheeple of this country believing everything they are told. |

Wake up Aus government, cars are a HUGE part of this country and if there is a problem, address it.
EDIT: Before anybody tries to flame me because I said cars a huge part of this country, remember how to get to work. How do you get to your friends house, a venue, a birthday/wedding (what ever). To get from your house to somewhere else, you need a car. Imagine life without cars. |
