Default Wind buffetting

Has anyone noticed a resonance/buffeting in the car?

With both rear windows down, at around 80km/h, I seem to get a resonance/buffeting of wind pressure. Front windows are up, as only the kids wanted the windows down.

Haven't done that much experimenting, but just curious to know if anyone else has experienced this yet.

I tend to have the sun roof open as well if the windows are open, and haven't noticed it.

Potential solution - go faster ;)

You'll get it in any car if you open left and right side windows at once, especially if theres a decent cross wind- there'll be a high and low pressure differential across the cabin, causing alot of air to rush past you back and forth depending on the gusts. It'd mainly be noticeable only with moderate cross winds and at driving speeds above 70-80km/h I'd bet. If you open front and rear windows on one side only you'll find you won't be able to recreate the effect.

Yep, common in most cars.

Scott
lived in the NT for over 30yrs during a cyclone we were told if its heading towards the front of the house always leave a window open at the back of the house because they reckon during cyclone Tracy a lot of house were lost due to pressure in the house not being equal to the outside never understood physics but they imploded/exploded because of this!!
