Smile Rear speakers in au2 ute, are the wires there in the Forte?

Hi all,

thinking of buying some extra speakers to go in the rear of my au2 ute. Just wondering if anyone knows if the wires are there already?

also what size speakers fit in the back without modifying anything? are they the same as the front?

If you want extra speakers in the back, your going to have to modify something, or put them in tacky speaker boxes.

6 speakers you want all up, yeh??

If the S2 are the same as S1, no the looms wont be there and you will probably need to make a mounting plate for the speakers. Also I would recomend getting a pair of 6.5 inch splits and fitting them as this makes a huge difference to the sound.

There is a spot to put them down the B pillar, If you take the trim off you will see it, that's where the speaker goes on XLS and XR utes. It will accommodate a 6x5 speaker. If there's wiring there or not I dunno.

Oh yeah also, the base model of the ute is XL, not forte

thanks, i i was thinking of my other au2 the Forte wagon for some reason.

do you know if the trim comes off easy?

in a sort of related topic, i found a 7" X 5" Kicker ES68 speaker at the wrecker today which i bought for $5.00 (had one only). I don't need it at this stage, i think it goes better with a complete system. Works fine. It also has the ford plug soldered to two speaker wires for easy connection.
If anyone wants it they can have it for the $5 i paid, plus any postage. PM me for pics or more info.

As far as i can recall you need to take off part of the B pillar trim and maybe a couple of push in clips.

there is no wiring for rear speakers in the xl and as stated you will ned to make some spacers, heres what i did with mine
http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=109663 if you need any more info just ask but i would recommend you cut away the carpet as i ended up blowing one of my speakers as it was covered up but since replacing them its been fine.
