Question Anyone Know about KAs??

Hi,
Newbie to the forum!
Have loved reading all the posts.
I havent found the info about KAs that I need tho. After a recent service at NRMA, the mechanic told me my '01 manual KA needs a valve adjustment.
He quoted $250 for this. Does this seem like a reasonable fee?

My Dad has worked on cars for years & said he could do this for me, but we need to know what type of valve actuation the KA has. Does anyone know if the adjustment can be done with a set of feeler gauges?
(lol i have no idea what I've just asked but I'll pass the answer onto my Dad!)
Thanks heaps!

The engine is an Endura-E, basically the same as the old "Kent" engine from the 60's.
It uses over head valves, so shouldn't be too hard to adjust if you know about these things.

According to Wikipedia this is absolutely true John, but they also claim that Ka's had variations of the Duratec engines as well?

PS: Bet ya smiling today after the League last night eh John?

By the way "KAbaby", $250 sounds a lot to adjust valve clearances to me, but then I guess your Dad already knows this by the sounds of it.
Maybe get a hold of a Haynes Service Manual for the Ka and get your Dad to adjust them, maybe your local library might have a copy?

Kababy has an 01 & they didn't get duratec til the 02 update.
And yes an excellent result in the league. Makes up for the cricket.
