3 have their own towers in metro areas and where their coverage ends they roam onto telstra.

Yeah I love my N95, its a great phone, or rather, a great camera that has a phone feature . I was a bit dissapointed to find out a week after I got mine that the 8GB model was available on the same plan that I'm on also for $0 because I love the big screen the 8GB model has, however after looking at a couple of my mates I do prefer mine (n95) as the 8GB seems a little chunky and the N95 has a lens cover for the camera were as the 8GB does not. Biggest let for me and quite unbelievable is it does not have smileys : but you can download them from the web (animated sms is the name of the software) I recently bought a 8GB SD card for mine and some software off ebay that allows you to use the GPS without having to pay the ridiculous licence fees Nokia are asking ($129 pa), it just uses the GPS chip built into the phone so theres no expensive phone downloads either, here the link for those interested http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NOKIA-N95-Ult...QQcmdZViewItem

Same as mine, great phone! Those buttons right under the screen took a bit to get used though.
Did you get the polished stainless one or the black one?

Tonko I went for the black one instead of the blingbling LOL....though the stainless was tempting.

Talking got the n96 yeah baby

2day i just got the n96: i ended up switching from Optus to Vodapone : , i'm happpy that i don't have any headset repayments on this : , but the bad side i'm on high cap plain for it oh well : , just don't waste the money on it, its massive upgrade from my n73 aswell, all i gota do now is get a card reader to tranfer my contects from my 2gb mini sd from my old phone. i traded my old phone to get $200 back to cover to cancel Optus Contact.

Looking at getting a N95 8gig myself through Optus,my plan is about to expire and they have offered me a better plan for the same amount of money ($49 plan existing one is with $230 worth of calls and the one there offering is $300 worth of calls with yes time and free 5 mins calls to the better halfs mobile which is on the same bill).I most likely wont use the phone to its complete potential but the gps will be handy aswell as the mp3 player etc.The thing i would like it to do and i am not sure if it will is hook up from my wireless modem on my home pc so i can browse the net on it like i do with my laptop without the high internet costs using the mobile system? My old phone is a sony erickson w810i which has been a awesome phone and very robust hopefully the nokia will be as reliable and give me the same great service.

Dont forget to check to see if the software is the latest version. That takes longer to download than the maps :-)

I have the Nokia 6210 Navigator. Excellent phone. Nice and light and lots of really useful applications. I have adobe pdf reader in my phone and the music player is way better than my previous sony erricsson "walkman" 810. Couple of letdowns with it though..no wireless and only upgradeable to 8Gb.

Other than that. very happy.

Well I got the N95 some time ago, and it seems like a good phone. I have a Camera and Ipod, so while I use both on the phone, I don't care that they are pretty good, cause if I want to take a really good photo, I use the Camera etc.

Otherwise, I find it only slightly better than my N80, which I have sent for repair, and will keep for a spare!

i really cant see a difference in N95 and N96. i work for a Telstra shop and have set up a few handsets. Only real difference is the N96 has 16GB internal memory, with the option of adding another 16GB via memory card, it looks different, and has an upgraded version on the software that was on the N95.

I'd go for the new sony ericsson if i was looking for a phone, 8.1 megapixel camera and easy to use.

Yes, there's not much difference between the n96/N95/N95 8gb, my family has 2 N95's and 1 n95 8gb, and i have the n96 , the differences I know are as Follows,

N96 Has Hugh Amount of Memory Expandable up to 48gb
N96 Keypad is different to Both n95's

Both n95s are faster than N96
:

and Updated software and 5mb Camera

CAstek, do you know if the N96 will be released as a NextG phone. Out here on the 'wrong' side of the Great Dividing Range, if its not NextG its not worth it, thought CDMA was miles in front coverage wise.

Nathan. CHOICE magazine just tested next G phones for you folks out in the sticks. It seems that TELSTRA have given some phones a 'blue tick', these are the ones that work best.

Yeah, well Telstra's "blue tick" is a bunch of baloney, they have the LG TU-500/550 as "blue tick" phones but they get half the service my current Nokia does.
