Default 2006-2008 Focus wanted for R&D Perth

Hello,

We are just putting a call out to any Focus owner in the Perth area that would kindly donate their 2006 to 2008 Focus for two to three hours for us to try out our modified Powertrain Control Modules for kit cars.

All we need to do is see if we can start the car with this new module then put the original one back in. There would be no adverse effect on thye car or components.

We are also offering a tank of fuel for your trouble.

Please contct us on 08 9302 3415 if you are interested or want more detail.

Regards,

Barry Batten.

I took my car up there last friday, the guys had a look at it, but they needed a
'catch code' to do the tests for it...I think it's all sorted now, I'll take it up next week if all goes to plan. Very helpful and knowledgeable guys about ECU tuning, they're going to do an 'economy tune' on my car when I go back up (supposed to be good for 15ish hp at the wheels and better economy ), so I'll see how that goes...looking forward to it!

E.C.U. Tuning is an amazing "art". What did we do in the days of Carburettion?

What do you reckon the odds are of them actually being the first company to bring out freely available tunes for the lower model Focus' ?? Would be nice, that's for sure...

They can do it now, he told me he's already done a couple of LS Focus'. It was something different that he wanted to play with, testing an altered ECU for kit cars...

Twisted screws until it didn't splutter anymore :P

But seriously...Carby tuning is a black art, and the people who can do it well are very rare and talented...To be honest, I find ECU tuning 100x easier to understand, as far as idle speed, cold start, temperature variation, intake air velocity, etc etc...all these things are laid out infront of you with an ECU...with a carby, you're running on instinct...when you tune it on a 30degree day there's no easy way to know if it'll start on a cold morning...or run at high altitudes...or any other of a hundred things. So my hat goes off to the guys who know carbs well enough to tune them for any situation...

Oh...and my car goes in tomorrow for a tune...if all goes well. Can't wait to see the results!

Had an emergency load-out for work, so had to put it off until Monday...I'm itching to get it done! I did put a pod on there, routed down behind the bumper, but man it's loud (and not a nice loud) between 4-5000rpm.

Should be looking good for early next year, as soon as BPT can fit the car in
