Default XHII Longreach S & GLi differences

Hi all,

Im new to this site, but I was wondering if you can all help me with a few things. Firstly, what are the differences between the standard Gli and the S model?

Secondly, I was wondering if it is possible to put an XR nose on the front of my Ute?

Cheers for the help.

heads, intake and exhaust

its a different engine to the EL 2 XR8 engine, the easiest way to explain the engine from the XH XR8 is that its a EL GT engine without the cam.

they have the same heads, the same intake and the same exhaust manifolds as EL GT.

i bought one to rebuild for my NC, and unfortunatley it was missing the headers and intake grr, least it still has the heads though

The S had a few more features. Colour coded mirrors and bumper moulding. Better stereo, alloys and a few others I can't remember...

XHXR8 is not a GT engine at all....I have one myself, and it does have the ELGT cam, as do all ELII, XHII and AUI 185 kw motors. They have E7TE heads, like ELII XR8, the only difference is the fact that they dont have the EGR in the upper inlet manifold, ala AU, and the EGR has a block off plate on it. ELGT has the tubular "Showa" GT40 manifold. The extractors are the same as ELII, FBT, and ELGT, but the utes are still lumbered with the little T/B and 19lb injectors. Basically it is the ELII XR8 engine, without the EGR.
If you want pics, or anything else on these engines, check out my sig, and can supply any details you need.

this extract is taken from the FPV website, in the history of theXH2 XR8.

Quote:
For this version of the Windsor V8, Tickford combined the new Explorer cylinder heads with Cobra inlet manifolds from the EL GT program. It was a welcome return to the original concept of a coupe ute based on Ford's V8 performance model.

Tickford modified the engine adding the EL GT inlet manifold, extractors and twin pipes which ended in a large 3 inch diameter chrome tail pipe. It was quite different in detail to the EL XR8 185 kW engine and was closer in specification to the AU XR8 engine
that tells me it has GT40 heads
