Wow, cant wait for this one, loved Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers so if this is as good as them it will be aded to my collection, there have been so great war movies over the years, i'm a fan of all theatres of conflict and love the doco's on the subject also, i like factual films the best( or based on fact) "A bridge to far, Battle of the boldge, the lost battlion, the Tuskenny Airmen, 40,000 horsemen, we were soldiers, windtalkers, D day the 6th of june, battle of river plate, sink the bismark and many more all based on fact

I don't think Hanks is in it .... just produced along with Spielberg. Will be interesting though!

Is the story based around US or Australian forces? Hard to tell from the trailer.
"The true story of the battle that saved Australia" doesn't help much either. I can't say it would surprise me if its another movie about the yanks saving everyone in the war.

Yank soldiers, wonder if they will put the Battle of Brisbane in just for laughs.

Love them or hate them, if it wasn't for the battle of the Corral Sea and Guadalcanal I do believe we would have been eating Sushi back in the 40's. For all their warts and all I love them!

Band of Brothers was absolutely awesome, and this should be just as good. I've been hanging for this to finally hit the airwaves.

Is it on 7, there's a 7 watermark at the bottom.

Can't wait to go see Valkyrie, even though Tom Cruise is in it.

I'd say it was the seppo's as i don't think any Aussie battlions did beach landings in WW2 and as for love or hate them you have to give them credit for the there guts, they were the one's that took all the brunt of beach assults, it sends a chill up my spine when i see actually footage of beach landings, it's like lambs to the slaughter and they took it it in there stride, wish the ossie film industry would turn out some movies like this about our diggers (factual)

Aussie have tried Explorer - thinking the various Kokoda movies.

Should have been shot (no pun) in PNG proper, what I see from the various AUS film locations that attempt to replicate 'Kokoda' - is foilage that is too thin (and species that are not PNG) and geography that is pleasantly hilly at most.

Further - movie 'scenes' on the topic should show an elevated camera 'flyover effect' of the Aus war graves at Lae and Bomana in Moresby.

I don't think we even had any Buffalo's let alone ships to transport them.
I do agree, I don't want to take anything away from the Yank vets, especially in the pacific theatre because they certaintly did their part in protecting Australia, but it just seems that these movies are somewhat always a little more biased.
