MAF Sensor info

As some of you know I've been having a few issues with my ute, in the last 18 months I've blown up a gearbox, had the exhaust system fall apart, replaced the water pump, smashed a tailgate, had lifter issues, dead starter motor, blocked injectors and now I've had to replace the oxygen sensors which were less than 50,000kms old and now (which brings me to the thread title) I need to replace the MAF sensor.

Apparently Ford don't make these for AU 5.0L anymore, so a reconditioned one with a 12 month warranty is gonna cost me around $800 fitted.

A second hand one will cost $600 fitted, this comes with a 3 month part only warranty.

Are these prices reasonable? which one should I go for?

I tell ya, I've had just about enough of this goddamn car, it's been nothing but a lemon since I bought it. As soon as it's working properly (till the next up) it's getting sold.

Wish I had my ED Futura still, never had any problems with that

I've seen them on ebay for around 300 i think, they look easy to install yourself too.

can you get a maf less tune like people do on there commys. my mate got one and it made a massive difference

I forgot about ebay, will have a check

I don't think you can do a MAFless tune on falcons, besides I'm balking at paying $600 let alone ~$1000 for a tune lol

Don't have a Bursons in WA (I don't think so anyway), I've emailed FTG to see what they can do for me

Here's one on ebay, ends in about 4 days or thereabouts, so you can compare what FTG charge and what the eBay one is going for, closer to the end of the Auction.

Oh by the way, It's a "performance" unit, so I guess it's out of the question huh?

Yeah I spotted that, much better than $600!!!

Don't think it's performance though, I'm pretty sure AU's have 70mm MAFs as standard

190,000 now, I'm dreading when it hits 200, plus it's 10 years old this year

I don't think I'll be selling it too soon, I have a love/hate relationship going on with it lol
But will remember the intake if I do sell

Yeah with those kms theres a chance the actual MAF sensor is shot.
It could be the intake pipe doing it, better sell it

That MAF sensor is not really going to help. Apart from being the "flangless" E-Series design, it has no electronics...
