Ok, before this gets closed/shunned/whatever, hear me out.
I like the banner, reckon its a bloody good effort, but the bit below - where the sponsors are - is there any chance we could get the blue bubbly surround from behind the Herrod's logo and continue it across the length of the page under the banner? I think someone suggested doing it before, and i think it would really finish it all off and tie it in, IMHO the sposnor logos look a bit second rate and tacked on atm cos they're not integrated into the rest of the banner/page. Anyway, its just a suggestion.

yeah the banner looks a bit "square" it should fade out or something, and I agree with the sponsers being hung off the banner. Maybe they are working on a solution but...

the page colour needs to match the banner so it fits in well... it doesn't fit in well at all at the moment. i'm guessing its just a temporary thing.

Someone mentioned before in the closed thread about the banner having more variety of cars. Just a suggestion, if you want to make more people feel welcome and feel like they belong why not open it up a bit. The first thing you see when you log in to the site is a pair of AU's and a BA... What about the classic falcons, the mighty HO, Cortina's, Capri's, Rods I could keep going on and on and on or are we to think that as was largely the case with the old ford forums that if you don't own a late model Falcon then you are an outcast? There's more to the Ford legend than the last two models of Falcon... Oh and the font, as i already said, couldn't someone have made something a little more original?
Again I'm not criticising, just making a friendly observation :-) |

a) have a banner with 30cars on it looking crowded, full of clutter and unprofessional b) select a few models which you feel are important now that banner that won isnt mine - i used an xy and a ba on mine - simple because in the end you cant please everyone. you suggested a HO, cortina, capri, rods - let's combine these with suggestions i had received since the comp started ;- from about 6 different people i heard a HO, BA, AU, EA, EF, XY, XF, cortina, capri, rods, some kind of ute, a territory, a focus, and an XB. can you see what im getting at here..? and thats 6 people including you, there are over 1000 here. i believe firefox's effort is great, but to expect the banner to please everyone is impossible! Seano, you forgot the Focus and the Escorts. : (kidding)
In the end it is impossible to have them all. I think people are putting far to great an importance on what is actually just a site banner. People can accuse me of being happy because theres an AU on it (2 actually) but the truth is it isnt even the banner I voted for, I went for #4. It really isnt anything to do with other models being "outcasts", thats just taking it a little bit to the extreme. This is the banner that won on its own merits in an open vote. It is now being refined and optimised to suit the site (rather than 5 or 6 banners being worked on only to have all but 1 dropped and all that work wasted). Give it time, the banner is being refined, as is the wholesite that people seem to forget is only 2 weeks old and has already improved 100,000% over when it first opened. Keep the suggestions comeing for sure but be aware that it cant be all things to all people and some compromises will always need to be made.

I agree with Casper, although I dont agree with two of the same AU's on the banner when there could be a different car (to make the others happy) on it...
Just my 2c, thats all... |

its not a case of making everyone happy, but more a case of making everyone welcome... I personally think the text is highly un-original and is already in use elsewhere and that there should be a better spread of cars on it. For example if I had the time to design a banner it would have had 3 cars still, but they would have been a Rod, a HO and a BA... Thats my personal opinion and hey there's no reason why I can't have an opinion. The person currently sitting next to me thinks the banner is great so everyone has different tastes.
I'll give it one thing... on the old ford forums my rants would have been long deleted |

Personally, I have my own opinions on the new banner...as most do....but I am happy to go with the consensus that says its the one people want.

one of my beefs all along with the old forum was the lack of respect given to people that don't own an AU-BA Falcon and I just don't want to see that continue... I want to see people click on this site and think to themselves, hey this place wants me to be a part of it
Cheers |

The refinement process is underway - amongst a number of other things we will obtain better logos for the sponsors - the ones in use were basically put together out of what we had and are in the wrong format (all of them), too low res (a couple) to be modified and when we turned them transparent so they could sit on a background they looked even worse. Good quality ones are on the way.
The cars issue will never be solved but they won't appear (more than likely) on the final logo which will be a work up of the actual banner in a clear to read and easy to print form. Keep the opinions coming. We can't improve things if we don't know what isn't liked. Cheers Russ

Maybe you should work on the Top logo because it goes further then the page on screens resolution lower then 800x1000 so it creates a scroll bar down the bottom that i dont like. could you fix it?

Very true Seano14...... I was actually suprised that the T3, GT banner won the contest. In the other banner that i made, comprising the top 5 in the falcon lineup, i was expecting it to do much better overall considering that those models are considered legends for the day. But you cannot please everyone as you said. Cheers

I don't know if its just me, however the banner is heaps wider than the forums to me, one of the car's is cut off, maybe it's because my monitor is to small (17in). shrug
I notice the sponsor part is looking more like the one stevo did, it's looking better. |
