Default MAD MAX - Cinema screening Victoria

ACMI in Melb are showing the original MAD MAX.

WHEN: Sat 17 Sep 2pm
WHERE: ACMI - Australian Centre for the moving image
HOW MUCH: All Tickets $8

Mad Max roared onto the cinema screens, depicting with shocking vigour a futuristic world of violence and mayhem.

Max Rockatansky (Mel Gibson) resigns from a brutal existence in the police force to enjoy life with his wife and baby son. When his family is run down by a bunch of crazed bikers, the ex-cop goes berserk and dispenses his own version of rough justice.

Other films prior to Mad Max's release had explored the dark side of Australian life, but none compared with the post-industrial landscape, extraordinary dynamism, graphically implied violence and final bleak ending of Miller's iconic film.

Book tickets here or more info

I'm going for sure, who else is coming?

Cam

They should re-make Mad Max, maybe with Mel Gibson again? And use a black BA GT as the Interceptor... and nightrider or whatever the guy's name was, with the Monaro.. can use a VZ CV8... would be a good flick.

Umm, with all due respect, I hope they DON'T.

I'd love to see the original on a nice big screen with the volume pumped right up...

I suppose I better go and take Condolini his hand back. :P

All you kids that have never seen it on the big screen, it is good seeing it at the drive ins, as long as you don't mind stone chips when everyone is leaving pretending to be Max. :eclipsee_

Well the XB has alot of credit.

Also it's a true aussie flick
It has alot of Fords in it (even tow trucks)
It answers the Ford V's Holden at the start of the movie.
It proves Cars are better than bikes.

Mel Gibson... :hihi:

It was made in Vic, Australia. I watched parts of it being made. It's turned into a cult car fanatics film. I do believe it even became popular in America.

I just woke up, I'll think of more reasons why later. :P

Im sure if you come to the screening, you may get an insight into the 'value' of the production.

. . for example, as a Producer, it is really hard to find 'good' Male actors. Have a look at the cast and you will see these people went onto making more films. EG, Mel Gibson.

hmmmmmm. how about something completely fresh? Not sure how the BA GT would look with the blower on the front lid. - no points for original ideas.

Maybe the car could fly? . . . . errr on second thoughts.

Cam, I hope you are joking!!

No More Mad Max.

IMO Beyond Thunderdome Killed Max and a 4th or remake will not bring him back!

Yes you are going to get flamed. If you dont know what was so good about Mad Max why bother to suggest a remake?

To make a better movie? Seen Mad Max twice, besides the black XB, I can't work out what's so great. :

If you don't get it now you never will. Sure it's not that great by today's standards, but it's a bloody great film for what it is; a bunch of no-names with no money going out and making a movie.
