Fiesta Exhaust Mod

Hey Guys just wanted to hear what everyone has on their fiesta..Im looking at installing a hotdog or something similar to give mine a nice note, make it a bit throatier. So any advice at all is much appreciated and if u have some mods of ur own id love to hear what everyones doin! Thanx ppl :

Good Bit of advice, get yourself a catback system if you want just the note, Dont get the hotdog (or rice cannon as we call them here in melbourne), as they suit lower class korean econoboxes lol!

Thanx dan. Now this may be a really stupid question but i know very little about this stuff, so what exactly is a catback system cos i have heard plenty about them but still not sure what they are.

Rightio thanx to Mista Fiesta ive found that now yes i am after a catback sytem haha but thats about as far as my knowledge base goes. Any one else got some advice for me??

hey, i have a cat back 2inch system on my car, sounds great.
if your just after the note what i would suggest is just getting the standard rear muffler removed. and get a 2inch chambered sports muffler. its oval and will tuck under the body. then you can just get a couple nice exhaust tips. and your all set.

So it just changes the note of the muffler rather than adding any performance i gues?? How much did your catback cost all up? and whats an approximate price for the sports muffler, a little cheaper i spose? thanx mate.

All up including tips mine cost $320

For a 2inch chambered muffler and tips your probably looking around the 120 mark.. shouldnt be much more than that, of course it depends on what tips you get. id suggest nothing but stainless. nothing worse than rusty tips :P.. and get them to paint the muffler Black so that it doesnt stand out like dogs balls.
in regards to noise and performance.. the standard muffler is huge and very restricted. so it will liberate some power and wont loose as much torque as fitting a whole cat back. but obviously wont gain as much top end power because the stocky pipe is still a little small. it will also give you a pretty nice exhaust note definately go a known muffler brand like lukey, supercat or redback.

Just to clarify what a Cat-Back system is, it is replacing the exhaust from the catalytic converter to the rear of the car with a higher flowing system.

The standard system is a compromise trying to satiusfy the conflicting criteria of low noise, light weight, low emissions, and low cost. They usually don't flow as well as aftermarket units as they are trying to cut down on noise, emissions, and cost as much as possible, as well as keeping the vehicle as light as possible.

A cat-back exhaust will increase the flow and reducing the 'choked' feel of the engine, but for a true performance gain, a whole exhaust system from the engine back, using extractors and a high flow catalytic converter, is required.

The Fiesta and Focus both respond well to a hot dog (not a ricer cannon which are often called hot dogs) up the front behind the cat, with a muffler towards the rear of the vehicle. It's louder than the stock system, but it flows considerably better without the cheap tinny 4 cylinder noise you often get.

Right well i am gettin the 2 inch catback system. its gonna cost me 350 and should hopefully be fitted sometime after next monday...finally lol thanx for the advice again

just another question if anyone can help, i havnt asked the guys at the exhaust place but will the tip go under the bumper or will they need to cut an oval shape so it goes thru. I think i would prefer that but if it goes under im happy. Has anyone had their bumper cut for this reason or is it fine going under??

Finally its on the car and it sounds fantastic. Thanx loads to all u guys who gave me some advice i woulda been up the creek if i hadnt had something to go by !!Cheers to everyone and if i find out how to get a link on here of how it sounds i shall!!Just got a little average tip on it so far but i will change it when i have the time, it sounds 110% better then before im really happy. cheers again happy motoring
