Default Mum wants a Fiesta

Hey, I am an avid falcon or anything ford lover.

My mum is after a new car within the next few months and she has said she likes the look of the new fiestas. I have read some of the reviews and they seem to be the best car in that market by a fair margin.

We will probably look towards the end of the months or at ex demos to try and pick up a bit of a bargain.

Is there anything in particular that we should look out for to get a good deal or any tips etc? The only problem i can see is that mum complains about her mazda 3 being too slow even though you can chirp third in it.

Well, by the sounds of things your mum can drive a manual.

The only thing I would have said is to get the manual, as the auto box=smaller engine, less power and higher fuel consumption.

haha maybe i should specify, she doesnt chirp third, i have but she thinks its slow even though it can do that...that is the problem, the smaller engine, shes gone from 3.8 to 1.9 to 1.8 and now it looks as though it'll go smaller again. She has an obsession with small cars now but expects 6cyl performance...women

She'll honestly think the Fiesta is quicker, it sounds and feels a lot more perky with a much nicer little engine.

Not too much chance of a massive discount at the moment, as there's a fairly large number of people buying them. Fiesta set an all time record for Ford last month. You never know though, drive a hard bargain with the Dealer but understand that it might be a bit of a wait (2-3 months) if they don't have the first colour choice.

They're a brilliant car, on the final 3 shortlist for World Card of the Year in Europe which is a huge accolade. Well worth the drive.

Order one mid to late Feb. Should start looking now as said by Zetec we'll be waiting 2-3 months pending on colour. Even a longer wait for Vision (blue) looking towards the end of June.

Price wise - pricing is negotiable we managed to good a good deal. Well I think/hope I did. I'll tell the price once I get the car.

Took one for a test drive a few weeks back (manual) very smooth. Well worth checking it out and taking one for a drive.

sounds good by the looks of it, it won't be till September that she'll purchase - that's when the brother intends to buy it off mum as he should have his license by then

Well hopefully by then the wait won’t be as long and they should have heap in stock. Should be able to score a good deal.
Best of luck mate.

She could be disappointed in performance vs the Mazda 3.

Whlst the Fiesta does OK for a little 1.6, when we took the Mazda 3 out for a test, it was just so far more enjoyable in power and torque than the Fiesta.

I'd equate the Fiesta to that of my daughters 10 yr old, 170,000km Mazda Astina 1.8, as tired as it is.

Our Fiesta is getting better but you do have to push it with a few people in the car.

yeah, i must admit the mazda 3 goes pretty hard, from memory 116kw and not much weight (compared to my falcon). but she's a woman and therefore will complain about anything so I think the fiesta will be great for her. Is there much difference between the fiesta and the focus? especially safety wise?

The WS Fiesta is a far better buy than the run out Focus.

Improved handling, improved ergonomics, improved safety standards.

It's 5 star safety rated just like the FG and VE, they aren't a fast car but they have more than enough to deal with highways and passing etc so it's all good. Driving though all the rain and wind today is a pleasure they stick to the road like glue. If you are buying later in the year around that time you might have both Thialand and German produced cars hanging around, I'd be looking for one of the last German ones if you get to have a choice

The VE has been 5 star rated since late last year not common knowledge to the Ford camp but it is, all it needed was a light to tell you your seat belt was undone or some such rubbish :P so they stuck one in

I had this argument with some Ford fanatic man a couple months ago and he was like no way man! I've seen all these road signs saying how the FG is 5 star rated on my trip just now. I'm telling him It is man!!!! the VE is 100% 5 star rated and so two days later he came home from his trip. He goes hey.... all those signs I passed the other day with FG's on them, well on the way home on the other side of all of them, was a VE
LOL, Gold moment
