Default Mk2 Dash Problems

Hey guys having problems with my dash clusters. I can't get any illumination, fuel gauge, heat gauge, or tacho. But the turn signals, charge, high beam and oil lights are working. Any ideas?

for the illumination, you may need to swap some lights from ya old cluster.

i swapped some lights over, tried some new wire combinations, but in the end it was stock combination that worked. got the dash lights working. now how do i tell the difference between the wire for the heat gauge and the wire for the fuel gauge? one is working but have no idea which.

red/white wire should be from the temp sender.
blue/black wire should be from the fuel sender.

is that what you wanted?

did you get the tacho to work?

i think the wires on my loom have been customised as they arent the same as the ones where the loom plugs into! i think the fuel sender is working. i have to run a wire from the tacho to the distributor so ive read... not sure if this is true

well i guess to check which is temp wire, when car is cold, it wont trigger the guage.

wire from tacho to negative side of the coil.
