ok now that I have an AU you guys can expect an influx of questions, sorry about that.
The fairmont I picked up on the weekend has an aftermarket key fob/ central locking thing. Whats required to get a new fcatory one? Does it have to be programmed as such? Reason I ask is because I might look at ebay etc, but if it requires programming then it might be easier to go to the local dealer. Any idea of prices aswell?

What? I mean the thing you press for central locking (the job) is a budget looking aftermarket one that doesn't work. Just want a factory one to replace it.

They're about $70odd new from Fraud (Ford) LOL!
They usually go for up to $55 on ebay. I'd probably buy one new. They have a tendancy to break. The battery cradle (sort of like a clasp/claw on a diamond ring that holds the ring) breaks. I've got three remotes, one purchased last week on the forum and all have this breakage to varying degrees. If I had my time again, I'd go with a new item from Ford. When you're changing the battery, it puts stress on the cradle (as described above LOL!). JC is right about the learning procedure though. Easy as. http://www.fordforums.com.au/showpos...6&postcount=93 Here's a link to the procedure. All the best with it. GK
