Ive been travelling on the monash lately and notice they are installing "overhead devices" along a stretch near toorak road. Can anyone confirm that these are time over distance cameras? They seem to be about 250m apart with one per lane.
I guess the government needs heaps more money now to pay for the economic crisis .

They appear to be signs for lane closures like the ones on the Tulla Fwy overpasses near Essedon Airport that have never been installed!! The look like empty boxes yes?

they'll be used to indicate which lanes are open because there wont be an emergency lane. Same as whats in the tunnels.

Ive never ben able to drive from roweville to hoppers crossing without major delays from roadworks.. ever. It doessnt seem to matter what day it is or what time it is there's a traffic jam somewhere on it. Cant see any light at the end of the tunnel either.. pardon the pun.

[QUOTE=brenx]We'll get 1 week of no road works and then that'll start ripping it up again as per usual.
[QUOTE] Then they will start ripping up the eastlink. That is why i hate Victoria.

Atleast it's better than when the Monash (south eastern arterial as it was known back then) finished at a set of lights at Punt road and we all had to trundle through the city to get out the other side though!
It's poing to be good to travel at 100k's an hour on it again when it's done, instead of 80 all the way to the Hallam bypass |

I have to drive almost it to get to werribee every day for the next 3 weeks in the truck. Drives me nuts in the arvo. I'm going along it around 5:30am in the morn so it's not too bad but it's still busy.

I don't think they will ever get the Monash Fwy right. Come 2010 when its supposed to be completed and it will take an hour + to go from Wellington Rd to Kings Way...

I was in LA 8 months after the 1995 earthquake did major damage to the 5 freeway and it was up and running with all lanes operating not like the Monash a disgrace. |

(e.g We dig a hole with a 30 tonne excavator on a normal road project, USA uses a 85 tonner) Near on 3 times the size, near on 3 times faster, the job is done. We still think (mentallity) that using smaller machine/s and having a lesser cost than the big machines, is a better outcome in the long run, even if it takes 3 years. |
