Default Holden Owner's Grant

I've just noticed Holden's latest ad, seems they make a new one every couple of weeks, which is odd since them and GM are bleeding money like there's no tomorrow.

Anyway, the Holden Owner's Grant... I can't seem to find much info about it apart from this table of savings:

http://www.holdencampaign.com.au/ownersgrantvalues/

It seems to be more spin although there are a few good savings to be had.
(Like everyone else)

For example:
A SV6 Ute manual was $38,490 with the "grant" it's $32,990. A saving of $8,400

Thoughts?

Are these already built models or would they have to be built?

Looking at the link it doesn't say you have to buy a pre April model so if it does have to be built then I guess it would be good prices. If its the whole heap of models sitting in the yard then the savings aren't all that special.

Well, it might be ~2am and I might have just got home after a beer or nine but my first thought is that your maths are up the creek.

$38,490 - $32,990 = $5,500. Where does the other $2,900 come from or should I ask the IMF that too?

Did you not Notice on the same Night the XR6 dropped by $1000.00 to $35990.00 Driveaway for Vehicles in stock.

Most of these deals with Holden were already Happening so is nothing new, they just came up with a New Name for it all lol

I cannot see how it is a good deal for Vehicles that you can Order as opposed to Vehicles already built which is not such a good deal in your eyes?

A Brand New Vehicle with say 5 k's is still the same Vehicle if it was built 2 Months ago or 6 Months ago & all are the same Value so to speak.

Well apart from an 09 Model will hold Value a bit better than an 08 but apart from that I need it explained to me so I can know your reasoning.

Maybe the extra $2,900 is the dealer delivery fee of say $1795 and the balance is 4% stamp duty. One price isn't on road and one is.even so, quite confusing!

I didn't look at the link last night - as suggested above, the first price must exclude onroads which roughly accounts for the difference.

If you look at some of the deals ford have to move their stock. Fords are pretty much the same or better.

eg SV6 (auto) $37,990 - Ford XR6 35,990 so wow Holden are soooo cheap!!

I did not say anything about Holdens being Cheaper than Fords, I said how can a Vehicle with a feb 09 Build plate be worth Less than a Vehicle you can Order with the same specs in April?

Or in your words only a Good deal if it is an offer on vehicles you can Order, See Blue text Below:

"Are these already built models or would they have to be built?

I am aware of the Holden deals as well as the Ford deals lol

In fact I also said these Holden Deals have been around for some time only Now they have stuck them all under the One Heading.

You will find with Most of these sort of deals it is on Vehicles in Stock

I meant that the deals weren't that good if they're floor stock. You can find cheaper comparable models from other makes. Also it gets difficult to find a car with the same specs (probably Holdens are easier cause they're everywhere) that you could get from getting it built.

Anyone have any idea about how Commodores resale values are going. Surely they must be dropping like a stone, considering they are cutting the absolute a rse out of their prices because they are so desperate to dispose of their massive oversupply.

But then again Commodore resale values are probably still higher than Falcon : Bit of a joke really.

I don't see why Ford has to "respond" to holden's continued discounting...
Ford need to stick to their own game plan and besides... if you have the best product people will be prepared to pay a premium for that.
I cant believe there would be too many sales determined by a few hundred dollars price difference... Commodore V Falcon.. there will be more to the choice than just price.

If a commodore and a falcon are the same price then why on earth does anyone buy the commodore? It's agreed that Holden posses the better v8 lineup, but why do people keep buying their terrible six's?

I saw this ad on TV the other night.

Than funnily enough, when I read the car section in yesterday's Telegraph there was no Holden ads to be seen. When they usually had at least 6 full page ads on a Saturday. Maybe the dealers are feeling it harder than they make out.

Did notice a couple of 08 GT's for $55,990 with 6800k's and 6/4 brembos, leather etc. The other $56,990, 380k's with leather. Bargains I think.

Most of Australia is.

Its why we have wall to wall Labor Governments.

Ford's marketing assumes people read broadsheet when in fact most Aussies are flat out understanding a tabloid level of english and journalism.

Obtuse adverts like the FG fingers simply get lost.

The Holden Owners Grant campaign is another example of lateral thinking and effective marketing by Holden.

An inferior product with superior marketing=higher sales volume

Nothing to do with the Owners grant Discounts, that is the 30% Tax credit for small Business which has recently been put in place by the labour Goverment.

Good on ya Ruddie
