Default New Fiesta LX: iPod connector

newbie here, considering a Fiesta soon, not sure which model though

read most of the topics concerning the new Fiesta, and not sure if this has been covered before.
The New Fiesta LX does not come with USB, so does that mean true iPod intergation can't be done ? I know it does have an AUX -in , but that's not good.
Anybody here with an LX that's found a way out?

I don't think it's worth to buy a Zetec, just to get iPod/USB support
From what I can tell Zetec offers over LX:-
- USB/iPod integration
- Sports Kit
- Safety Package inc. ESC
- interior trim ?

a few other bits and pieces (like projectors, ambient lighting ...) as well as that list.

The safety package with ESC is the big one though and well worth the extra.

As for the Ipod connection, I suspect the LX headunit is missing a control unit but given they look to be the same head unit, it may be an aftermarket option addon.

As far as I know, I stand to be corrected, the only way to hook up your Ipod is with a cable (sold separately) in to the AUX 3.5mm jack which comes standard across the range. I don't think (again stand to be corrected) there is anyway to control your Ipod with the car stereo in any model.

Nope, my Ipod connects to the USB port with the cable that Ford supplied. Direct connection.

You can also connect via the aux in but no Ipod controls on the Fiesta if using that method

So this way you can use the car screen to select songs from your Ipod just like if you had a USB memory stick in?

Yes - full Ipod control.

Once connected, the Ford logo shows up on the Ipod screen.

Plays playlists, individual songs, On The Go, full ID tags etc

Does the ipod connection work with all the latest versions of ipod? I've got an ipod touch and soon to be getting an iphone when my current phone contract expires.

Zetec Dave there is a link on the ford website in the New Fiesta section that allows you to see which ipods are compatable.

If I recall, the latest ipods were released before the Fiesta. So they should be good to go.

Well the LX does not get a USB connection so I think your answer is no, unless you plug it in to the AUX...?

Try this one

http://www.ford-mobile-connectivity.com/

Edit - oh and whilst they don't officially support the IPhone, Ford said they have tried it and it works (in their tech info)

Hope that helps
