Hi all,
I am looking at fitting interior lights to the rear of my 07 TDCI that has the full curtain airbag setup as most of my traveling in the car is done at night and it is a real bastard to find anything in the back in the dark. Has anyone else done this or does anyone know any possible hazzards in doing this. Any suggestions/advise would be great Cheers |

I read over on the xr5 forums a while back that guys were ordering the parts in from the uk and fitting them. Apparently the wirings there already (however I'm not sure about the rest of the range)
The LV's have them so there's a good chance you can get the parts from ford.

I've done exactly this, for the same reason. I've got a 2007 CL, and there was no existing wiring. I used two LED sealed lamps, one on each side, mounted in the 'U' of the rear grab handle. The wires were run inside the headlining, and I soldered them to the positive outlet of the front globe, and changed this to LED as well. I can post pics of where I soldered to, and how the rear lights mounted if you like.

thanks mullet it would be great if you could post the photo's.
Did you just fit the leds into the handle or was it a light kit? Is there any precautions to take with the curtain airbags or am I able to drop the hood lining without any problems... |

Not sure about the airbags, but I didn't remove the headlining. I drilled a small hole to run the wires into the lining, and then fed the wires around the edges. I'll take a pic of where they're mounted tomorrow if I think of it, but here's the one I took of the wires soldered to the light. This will give you +12v and an earth, on only when the main light is on.
