Default XR6 Ute Diff

hey guys

im looking at getting a diff out of a wrecked 2001 au2 xr6 ute
its a manual
i know it PROBABLY wont fit but i thought id post here in case it does or someone knows a way to make it fit cuz i dont want to buy it for nothing
what ratio would it be, does it matter that its manual and does it matter that its going on a sedan?

if your sedan is live axle then swaping centers over shouldn't be a problem.

im not 100% sure what live axle is, live axle is opposite to IRS isnt it? in that case im pretty sure it is live axle but if someone could explain the difference that would be great

yeah mate live axle is opposite of irs. everything pre au is live axle. disc to disc is one piece no exposed axles.

hmm is there a way to make 100% sure that my car is live axle? im told by people that its not a fairmont ghia therefore doesnt have IRS but i dont wanna mess around getting the diff only to find it wont go on

have a look under the back end. if it looks like ==0== it is live axle, if it has the diff centre mounted onto the car and arms out to the wheels it is irs

i dont understand, im gonna look up some pictures
thanks for the help tho guys

edit: i can find live axle pictures but i cant find any clear IRS pictures, as far as i can tell without going to look i think mine is rear axle
just hope the diff is still there when dad can go round and take it off the car, i have tafe ever day from 8-5 lol

i have a xr6 ute diff up the side of my house, awaiting to swap the centres with the diff in my car. ill get around to it one day.
