Hi
Are AU2-3 Front callipers & discs the same as BA's??? Can you swap for BA rotors & use the AU2-3 calipers??? The reason I'm asking is that I'm doing a AU S1 fairmont ghia to AU2-3 XR8 front end conversion at the moment & all is going well but wasn't sure if I could fit a set of BA rotors???? Also the sway bar is different!!! The one on my S1 GHIA is huge 28mm at least!!! The XR8 one 20 or so, small by comparison..... Cheers |

I can't help you with the sway bar question but I believe you can upgrade from AUII-III brakes to BA no problem BUT you have to change the calipers as well cos the BA disc is bigger than AUII-III so won't allow the AU caliper to bolt on. Good news though is that all you need to do is remove the AU calipers and bolt on BA calipers in their place and you're away as I'm told it's a straight swap.

It depends on what BA rotor you have there a 3 different sizes and the calipers are different also

The sway bar is huge in the series one.
I noticed this when I pulled mine out. You need 2 high tensile bolts and some nuts on either side, and some new swaybar mounts as well, and a couple of nice brand new and sharp drill bits to drill the new holes. Dont try and use blunt ones, it took us 4 hours to drill the subframe for the new bolts for the sway bar, lol.

Whilst we are on the subject, Im guessing that BF brakes are also bolt on? Whats the biggest size and from what model, that we can bolt straight onto the front of the series 2/3? Im sure its the BF XR8's, can someone verify this?

How long & what diameter should the 2 bolts be???
I'm at work now & could grab a couple to finish off tonight!!! I think the FG rotors are about 320-328mm but don't quote me exactly.... |

I forget how long they are. They have to fit through the subframe though and the mount on either side with thread for the nut on the other end.

G'day aufiramontghia, I have BA front brakes fitted to my car. The Calipers are different to the AU2/3 ones. For starters the AU ones have an inspection hole in the top of the caliper as opposed to the BA ones. The AU rotors are also 287 mm in diameter compared with the standard BA ones which are 298 mm in diameter, so essentially the BA rotors will not fit without the BA calipers.
The AU2/3 front swaybars are a different shape to the AU1 type, so the size difference may be attributed to this. Monty, the BF XR6 turbo/XR8 premium brakes (322 mm front rotors + territory type calipers with BF mount) are a direct bolt up. I believe that even BF Brembo brakes will also fit the AU2/3 cars, though other AU boys should be able to confirm this.
