My brother has this escort for sale on ebay at the moment and has been offerd $2000 for it. Should he take that much, or should he hold out for more as good original 2 door bodies are hard to get, and there are 115 watches on ebay at the moment which I thought was alot of people after a mk1?

if it isnt anything special and its a 1300XL auto is probably a good price at 2k also seeing as how the body isnt perfect and needs a little work to bring it back to original beauty

Agreed the body isn't perfect and the 2K does sound good, but as the person that offered the money said, the ones he'd been looking at rust every where and ones like this with very minor amount of rust were hard to come by, there for make an excellent project start. Also his plans are to put a V6 capri engine in.

Hi I'm new to the forum and amazed at how hard it is to find good parts for Escorts yet I recently bought a reasonable Mk1 for $100-00 and swapped for a Mk2 near wreck for spares for my 11yr olds dirt circuit race car Mk2 2litre. I have got onto a few Mk2's since for up to $300 one ready to fit a V6 capri. Looking at the pic of your brothers car I would have thought 2 grand was OK considering what I've seen for sale around the place, then again I'm in country Sa so prices here may be different.
Cheers, Les |

Why dont you accept whatever your happy with? I have no idea why anyone would both with a 3lt in it. A decent 2lt will out perform and handle it any day on the track.
$2000 is pretty good considering it condition.

At this stage I think he is going to let the auction run its coarse and hope the bidding gets to the $2000 mark or more. On another note, what sort of condition does a mk1 have to be in to be deemed good? This one has no rust in the firewall or in the engine bay and small amount of surface rust in the boot and then everything else you can see in the pictures. Are there plenty of mk1's out there better than this?

He took the $2000 and pulled it from ebay. The new owner payed $700 to truck it to sydney and he said that the good body was important as he is a busy man and the beter the body the quicker it will be on the road with its V6 and respray.
Cheers.
