Default aufalcon.com site updates

09/01/2005:
I've had my break and its time to start updating the site again. There has been a huge amount of info come in over the Christmas Holidays so I will be updating the site almost every day over the following week.
Today see's a much needed update to the "for sale" section with a heap of bargains to be had including AU1 remotes for $30 each and an XR leather steering wheel for $100. Snap up the bargains guys...there's still more to come.
Later this week, a number of new tech articles, a great article on the Tickford V8 builders and more new member cars than you can imagine.
Looks like 2005 is going to be even bigger than 2004 for AUFALCON.COM

Sounds good casper. I must come along to an AUPS meet one day. Can't make it to albury/wodonga. Too busy with car refinishing work. Porsche 911 to do from wed night and mate's EF cobalt blue XR6 tickford wagon has to be refinished and coated also

12/02/2005:
An awesome new article called "Hand Built" from AUGZMK about the V8 AU engines and the names of those that made these very special engines.
All the dyno day results and video/pics are up on the site.
Visit the EVENTS section for details.

That article is a really cool read.

For such a model (AU) that was unpopular with the masses, it certainly has some of the most interesting bits of trivia and history eg the T series, hand built engines, VCT engines, controversial styling etc

dug this thread up from the grave. 7 new members cars have been added over the last 2 day, about the same amount will be added during the week. Tis time for a big catch up and get the site rocking again.

Anyone got any new workshop files or articles they want to get posted? Time for a refresh while we wait to come onto the AFF server.

Tomorrow night, yours is next in line. In the mean time I've added the new car care article from SVR73 into the articles and updated the handbuilt article with a new nameplate. If you havent read these... they are well worth it.

Just for curiousity sakes too.. since May 4th, 2004 (15 months) the aufalcon.com website has had 27,721 hits. Not too bad I think. So much for it being an unloved car!

lol, actually none of them are mine, I bypass the counter... as do about 40% of all people visiting the site. Its actually far, far more than that based on some server counts I got.

hey casper have you thought about revamping the WHOLE site... layout etc.

can i give you a few constructive comments without getting flamed??

if not dont read below!
================================================== ====

1: dont have a splash page, just load onto the home page right away.

2: have a cleaner home page, i am talking everything to be neat and in certain sections, like all that text looks gross in the yellow on the blue.

3: maybe change the navigation style.

i will try and show you what i mean and send you a JPG... maybe someone can help with the site and give it some freshness!

thats all mate

Rob :
All things I agree with. As soon as we get onto the AFF server there is a totally new design and software that Dauphin has designed that is hopefully going to be used. A much newer, more modern look. The site was never ment to be this popular, it has kind of grown beyond my wildest imagination!

good 2 see constructive critisizm being used how it should be!!

and great work on a site and club that is growing so well!!
i remember wen www.fordlaser.com was only 300 members.. now its got 1400 members..+

may i ask.. what is the difference between a premier and a donating member?
obviously a standard member is just sombody who has joined and posted there pics and info and donating has donated but yeah.. im unsure what premier means

will be good 2 see how the new site turns out.

id like to see the workshop and articles section sorta joined .. and possibly more catagorization of articles.. like anything thats cleaning made into a cleaning section.. etc etc

also would it be possible to put up links or contact info for workshops that specialize or know alot about the AU and group them into different states .. so u know exactly where that turbo kit ur ordering is comming from LOL..

good work either way guys!!

All good suggestions, I'll see if I can answer them:

So long as its constructive (like this post) I do appreciate hearing it as it tells me what people want. I know a format change is No1 and it will be done but the server and the time involved to do it are holding it back at the moment.. patience and it will be done.

I think the difference is that aufalcon.com is neither a forum or a club. Its simply a website. Fortunatly AFF is linked to it so we get a massive amount of traffic in this forum.. more than we have cars on the site. If every AU owner on AFF sent me their car details I'd be spending the next week updating the sit I think. Considering its humble beginnings as a picture storage place for about 20 hardcore AU lovers, its remarkable how its grown.

You are correct about the members area. Thats for anyone with an AU (spinner wheels included). There are 3 other levels.
1. Founder.. these are the original hardcore group that got the site going through help and financial assistance. Bow to these people for without them... there would be no aufalcon.com
2. Premier Member.. This is reserved for donating members who, through there own actions, contributes to the site in some form that the existing Premier Members and Founders feel justifies a reward of sorts. You can NOT buy Premier Membership. It is an invitation process only. Only 3 people have been made premier members. Bucknaked, Useless and Jonbays. Its done by nomination and vote of the existing founders and premier members.
3. Donating member.. Anyone who wishes to become a donating member of aufalcon.com is free to do so at there own will. The is no "minimum" donation and is entirely up to the person involved. I personally didnt want to set this up as the money is not the purpose of the site however a number of members wanted to contribute in their own way and this seemed to satisfy thier requirement.
I will say that there are others who have helped out that are behind the scenes. People like Kooky, Dauphin and Red_EL_XR8 have all had a hand in the site and need recognition too.

Good points, I'll see if the new layout is going to be suitable.

There are links to some workshops that are proven and tested. None of the workshops are paid advertisers so there position on the site is purely by proving they are an AU "house" with proven work done on members cars. I'm always open to new links etc being added.
