Default Help Please

Mate has a 1991 Ford Laser. The battery packed it in and he replaced it. Of course having one of the factory ford radios it requires him to enter a security code to use it. He has the factory code.

The question I have is how does he successfully enter the security code to get the radio working again?

Thank you in advance.

cheers

Punch the code it using the station buttons that are numbered 1-6 if he got it right the radio should wake up after the last number is entered. If he gets it wrong he gets 3 chances then the radio shuts down for 1/2 an hour. If he gets it wrong again it shuts down for 45mins. If he still gets it wrong after that slap him, lol. But seiously, it'll shut down for a progressively longer period every time he gets it wrong.

BushBasher,

Thanks for the heads up. Will advise him and give that a try. He informed me as short time ago that he noticed that the radio is flashing up the letter C which i'm assuming is for the code.

Would this affect the above process?

thanks for your advice to date.

cheers

G'day fprfpv.
Not long joined this forum with a view to buying a 91 laser [which has come to fruition], so keeping a eye out for potential pitfalls. Back to your mates dilemma, if he doesn't get the code in one try and it disables for longer & longer, disconnect battery for a minute or so. This should default back to the original 3 chances. Good luck.

Got a similar problem with a KJ Laser I just bought for my mum. Have got the radio code via Ford, but cant get rid of the error message on radio. Have tried disconnecting radio for roughly an hour, but no luck. Appreciate any ideas.

Thanks
