haha, not bad you say, European countrys are very small compared to Australia, you dont have to travel that far in those kind of coutrys, and their public transport is state of the art. in Australia, places can be very remote and the only way to get their is by car, and not to metion our public transport is discusting. we need cars in australia to travel, european coutrys its not a nessesity.

Petrol prices suck and I hate public transport, the trains are overcrowded.

Its a 50 minute train ride each way for me and $12 for a daily ticket. If I take the bike its only a 30 minute trip each way and $12 will nearly get me through the whole week.

Even when it rains and I get drenched I smile at how much better it is. The good ole 250 is slow as but faster than most cars and I go through traffic like a hot knife through butter!

Lets me save my petrol money for the $100 it costs me to get to heathcote and back including racing :P

I paid $800 for a mountain bike so i could ride to work every so often. I think i've ridden it 3 or 4 times in 2 years.

One thing i don't understand is, wages are supposed to increase with the "COST OF LIVING"
Everything has gone up soooo much in the last few years, something my tiny wage increases seem to barely cover.
Time to demand a pay rise i think.

I have seen plans for an electric hydrogen converter that can fit in the boot
of a car and can convert enough hydrogen from water to run a V8 but buggered if I can find it though.

You may find this interesting.

I know what traffic is like ... I'm a courier driver in Sydney ... don't tell me about traffic.

Soon i will be moving out past Richmond ... and I work at Chatswood in my other job ... which will also add the excessive M2 toll into my cost of travelling as well. Hence one reason why the ute i bought was running dedicated LPG ... I nearly bought a petrol BA XLS ute ... but changed my mind and got an AUII XLS LPG ute for the same price.

I used to catch both trains and buses as well ... I found buses OK around the North Ryde area ... trains were much worse though. What i hated was the bad weather days and public transport too ... YUCK.

I tell you what .. my ute is the first LPG vehicle i have had .... i should have converted across years ago .... saved myself a packetload.

I di anywhere between 1,000km to 2,000km a week for work and one my own time ... imagine my fuel costs if I was using ULP ... thank god I am only paying 40c/L (avg) each time i fill up.

LPG is a very viable option ... especially if doing high mileage.

Public Transport (PT) up here in the Mountains sux even worse than Sydney. When we were without both cars (one was off the road unrego'd, the other had the blown up engine) at the beginning of 2004, geez did I find out how bad PT is!

It takes me 10 mins to drive to Katoomba, about 8ks or so, to work.

The first bus that was non-school-children related first thing in the morning came at 9.50am. The bus stop is a 5 min walk away, yeah that's the easy part. The bus trip cost me $3.60 each way to Katoomba. And took 25 mins!

The trains were better because at least they ran early in the morning. But I live over 30 mins walk away from the train station, so I would have to leave at 7.50am to catch the 8.30am train, if it was on time (barely ever). And it was just as expensive as the bus. Thankfully it was only a 10 min train trip though.

The thing with the mountains is everywhere (funnily enough) is HILLY! Riding a pushbike is nearly impossible because you get speed up going down the huge hill (fun) to have to push the bike and yourself up the other huge side (not fun at all).

Ugh... no matter which way I went, it was still time consuming and expensive.

LPG all the way.

And to whomever it was who was discussing converting the rolla, uhhhh NO. I wouldn't fit a gas tank in with the sound system, spare tyre, three kids (two of them teens) with schoolbags, plus me and my stuff for work. We barely fit now (that's the reason besides fuel issues that I have to sell her soon... : : )

In my opinion, in the next few years, LPG in Australia will become like diesel in Europe. With LPG injection and such technologies, plus the cheap prices, people are going to start seeing the light. Even when the Government starts taxing LPG, it's still going to be at least twice cheaper then petrol is.

Oh and Bindi.. if you really wanted to gas the 'rolla, you could put the bottle where the petrol tank is/was and make it dedicated LPG. Though, it seems you'll be needing a bigger car anyway.

Tax on fuel inquiry - http://fueltaxinquiry.treasury.gov.a...ackgnd/002.asp

LPG will be taxed at 12.5c/L from 2008 onwards, however from 2008-2011 there will be a $1000 subsidy to convert your car from petrol to LPG or to purchase a dual fuel vehicle

LOL. You can accuse Steffo of many things, but lack of passion will never be one.
