Default Wangaratta

Hey all,

planning a road trip to Wangaratta later this year, and was just wondering what are some of the attractions/social events to attend?

Also an insight to what pubs/clubs have a good scene?

Also, cheap accomadation (caravan parks/camp ground), and something to pass the time (fishing spots, golf)

Thanks in advance,

Clay

The Wang bypass is a great piece of road, in fact, I really enjoy driving on it. :hihi:

Seriously though, if you like wine, the Brown Brothers winery isn’t far from there and I’ve heard that it’s a pretty good place to visit if you’re into that sort of thing. :baby bott

Beechworth and around Myrtleford (Lake Buffalo) as said above Brown Brothers and Milawa. For fishing .... back to Albury is about the only fishing unless you try the Ovens .... only fished it a few times. Buckland Valley area is good for a drive .... dirt roads past Lake Buffalo. Cheshunt and all the small towns around that area.

If you can drive to Bright .... thats a great place and up to Mount Buffalo is a must if in the area.

Everything East is great Wang it self? After dark .... laps up and down the main street can be good. Great Kebab place up near the bridge ..... : ....and then can't think of anything else sorry

Cheap accomodation:- The "Pinsent" Hotel.
Good rooms, older style but clean & air conditioned, own bathroom.
Rooms available from 1 person up 4 or 5, prices start from $40 (when i stayed last)
And if you do go there. Order a chicken parma & salad from the BAR, i dare you!

Wangaratta Speedway is always a good night, especially when the compact speedcars are on.

Start of the upcoming season is 24th October, and goes through until May.
