Hey,
Ive noticed a really bad noise coming from under the rocker cover, its pretty loud once the revs pick up to about 2000 rpm+ and gets louder the hotter the engine is. I'm pretty certain its either a lifter or a valve spring. Ive decided i want to replace most of the top end. I'm looking at replacing the valve springs and lifters but what else should i replace to give the engine a new lease at life, and what aftermarket gear is out there that is available for the I6 VCT? |

Get performane valve springs while your at it and performance retainers. This way you can install a bigger lift cam without headaches. Also you would want to change you lifters as well.

The Valve springs and retainers are available from JMM, Surecam and Crow cams (?).

Ive sent Crow cams an email, im also enquiring about an aftermarket cam, but with the VCT engine im not to sure...
I actually noticed the noise during a drag race with a mates 1996 vs statesman which btw does a 14.026 on the 1/4 mile. The thing has got me stumped how its pulling a time like that, hes confident if he pushes it off the line a little harder hell crack 13 seconds, its a v6. He tells me with 100 dollars and 5 mins to install it, he should hit around 13.5... But that wont be till next week. |

Well, i still cant get a reply from Crowcams, so ill ask here aswell.
Does anyone know if the cam, Part No. 2232546 can be used on the VCT motor. The other cams say Not for VCT or XR6, while the bottom 3 on the table dont. http://www.crowcams.com.au/media/cat...20%20EA-AU.pdf BTW, the VS statesman i was talking about, turns out hes got a supercharger on it, i caught him with the bonnet up. He was trying to keep it a secret lol. |
