From today (19/6) two new hidden speed cameras become operational at Blacksoil & Haigslea.
In two weeks another will become operational at Minden. These new hidden speed cameras look like information boards advising you to slow down. They can take photos across both lanes from two hundred meters away.

We asked him if the engine had actually been called “Seagull” and how that came about. “Actually it was just call “Gull”, because I named it that. Because we knew it was going to poo on everything”. |

Cunningham highway at Dinmore near the Redbank turnoff has an information board but on a couple of occasions as I was passed by a car or bike the board has lit up and had the words 100KPH limit $300 and 3 points
its on a bit of an uphill run so in the truck it doesnt bother so when Im passed at that point I always have a good look at the board I dont know if they fine you as you go under the sign or if its just a warning also they use it to tell you that the roadworks have an 80k limit on them so I guess it is paying for itself thanks John |

I received this information via a usually reliable third party, I have no intention of trying it out.

This topic has been discussed on previous threads over time.
Yeah, no doubt revenue raising. Yep, it is considered a dangerous spot of road. (don't know why though!) But the message isn't getting accross. Do the damn speed limit. Unless you like your photo taken.... :evil3: Cheers

See now I've seen this warning boards and I reckon that's all they are. From what you can see, there is no imaging device attached to it, no flash etc, just a simple radar detector. Prove me wrong, but I reckon these devices are simply a warning that flash a message when you exceed the speed limit. You can even see the words, 100 - SLOW DOWN imbedded in the board. Just like the gantry sign on the cunningham behind dinmore, it just detects your speed and warns the driver.
It's all just paranoia after bligh said she'd install them at muirlea and rosewood on the warrego, but got it wrong... http://www.qt.com.au/story/2009/05/2...ht-after-typo/ |

Vote the bastards out. Ignore parties. Ignore policy promises. Ignore the old "the other side is worse" or "I am a xxxxxx voter". Vote them out. And guess what. If the new guy becomes afraid that he with get voted out then maybe, just maybe he will push for more sensible laws.... You can always vote someone else in next time. But while you continue to vote for them they will just get worse and worse..... |

Not sure if they are cameras Simon, but I do know they use pressure strips in the road at a certain distance apart. I have been over them at warp factor 7 on the bike plenty of times. The sign screams for mercy but I've never got a ticket in the mail.

It seems these signs do not get you fined yet:
“New speed activated signs on the Warrego Hwy have detected 5000 speeding motorists in nine days”,...... “even more alarming there were nine motorists traveling up to 50kmph over the limit”. .... This data will be shared with the Queensland Police Service to help in their efforts against speeding drivers”. Main Roads Minister Craig WALLACE. The Ipswich City Independent, Friday 28 Aug, 2009. Watch out for fixed speed cameras in these spots soon.
