Ok i read in the manual that it has an alarm aswell as an immobilizer
i have tried to trigger the alarm but nothing is happening so my thoughts are that only the zetec has the alarm can anyone confirm this or am i doing something wrong thats not triggering it?

Only the Zetec has the perimeter alarm.

Sit in the car. Lock the car only once (do not deadlock the car). Wait about a minute (so the alarm triggers) and then pull the inside door handle. My alarm goes bizurk then!

Well that confirms it the CL does'nt have an alarm
just tried what you said rapid opened the door and jack diddly squat happened.
