Default DECA, Aug 23rd

Hi Guys,

A reminder that DECA is on this weekend.
Whilst our entry list was full quite a while ago, we'd love to see any that want to come up for a drive, or even help out. We'll have the bbq running as normal, and will have 3 groups rotating - 1 on the back track, and 1 on each test on the skidpan.....

For those who have entered- don't forget your helmet!!!! Ohh, and I hope reverse gear works...............

pics? Hundreds.... quite literally....

I'll get a few up, but not all will make it to the website straight away.........

Thanks to all that came along- we had a full field of 60, and although a late start (get outta bed earlier guys!) we still had everyone run the back track 3 times and the skidpan 5.

The VB challenge was after this - and yet again all Fords apart from a couple were out in the first round. So what were the final two? Last year, Cam came up in his EVO (and won) becuase he was a wuss and didn't want to drive the shelby in the rain. Steve is a local farmer, who brings out his incredibly well put together Zed for a play. You can see Cam in the background as they lined up for the final

This year, it was a good thing that Cam came out for a run the Cobra, because not only does it look and sounds incredibly sexy, but he won again.

The trophy was something a little different......

To those that came and helped - Keith for all your work, Vin who always goes above and beyond, grasshoppr L.A and Roland for helping time all day, Mick and Dianna, MOTIV8, Jules, etc, a huge thanks : - the day only runs as well as it does because of the helpers.
BRUTE6- yet again an AWESOME event you have organised- kudos to you................. : :

Might have to dust off the helmet as the Ford guys dropped out very early in the challenge

Hey Greg!

Glad you enjoyed the day - will get through the pics at some stage (I got a bit snap happy :hihi: ) and once BRUTE6 has done the results we'll know who won!
From watching everyone, I have a feeling that Steve S - the guy in the green Zed that was in the final of the VB challenge will go very close.......

This year was the first time we threw in a couple of tests that needed reversing, so you might have been in trouble there!

Default Vids!

Firstly, I should say thanks to FPV and NDSOC for running the day. Had a great time, and the motorkhana layouts were really good. My favourite was the one with the mini garage in the middle with the reversing.
I took a few vids of the zeds and the 180sx and black R32. Thought I would share. I haven't used the GoPro camera at a DECA before and only had one memory card so couldn't share it around with the fords and other datsuns. Turns out I only filled up half the memory card so next time I will have a few spare cards and batteries and will try to share the camera around more. The phone vids are pretty average, need a cheap camcorder and tripod for next time.

anyway onto the vids:

There's some great video there Sandeep!

Just on my behalf, as a few have already mentioned, thank you to all that helped out on the day. These sorts of days can't happen without support and help on the day. Motiv8, GBG, thank you again for your help!! Roland, and Damo and LA for helping us with the timing. All the BBQ cookers/servers etc - thank you!! It was also great to see quite a few people come up to watch - woohoo!!

Having just done the results for the skidpan - I can announce that Steve Siggars in the green Chev powered Z took out overall honours!! Well done Steve!!!! 2nd went to Adam Jones in the SSS Pulsar, and 3rd went to Horton!!

For the FPV/XR club, I can announce that Vin was the Club Champ! Followed by Owen, and Steve Sorraghan - Well done guys!!

As much as I love playing in this sort of event, I also enjoy organising/running the day - I still get a thrill from seeing everyone else having fun!!

Once again, thanks all for coming/competing/watching!!!

Cheers,

Brad

Brad and Sean you should definitely compete next year, I'm sure you could get people to cover your post for a few mins while you do your runs. Usually at the SAU deca days I help out on the skidpan and still get to compete.
I agree with Brad though, watching people run is pretty cool, also you can learn heaps. I did the timing for a SAU event last November, sat on a chair on the skidpan for 4 hrs straight and timed about 50 cars doing 4 runs each... I learned heaps from watching the cars and taking down the times. You get to see what works and what lines to take to get the good times.
Also next year the ford guys should pick the other side of the skidpan for the battles. The left hand side usually is more slippery... don't tell any of the datsun guys I said that though ;)

Oi !! What about me? Don't wanna get beaten by a girl, hey...?? Just kidding.

Cam did every one of his runs on the lhs side.... but we can toss a coin next year.

Here you go.............................
