Anyone see Rides last night on Discovery Channel. Was about the worlds most expensive rides. Interesting prices on some of those cars. All in US dollars.
Brake change on an Enzo is around $30,000 while oild change costs $700 and to replace the engine, then its the cost of a lamborghini. The worlds most expensive car is "The Silver Ghost" The very first silver ghost made. Is insured for 40 Mil. Alot of the early 70's muscle like one of only a few convertable GTO's made is around $600,000 while one of the early GT40's is priced at $5 mil. Even Mr Shelby was offered 10 mil for his first Shelby Cobra. He said he'll never sell it. Anyway, i was wondering if anyone else saw it. |

Yeah I saw it... pretty insane. Tim Allen was funny. I'm glad that Jay Leno actually gets out and drives his cars - all of them - including the steam powered ones.

Rides was great last night. Well, OK - i'll over look Jason Priestly.
Some of leno's cars are amazing. Didnt see the Enzo - was that when they took it to West Coast Customs for the new rims? I guess there's not much else you can do to one...

Best show ever. Anyone who doesn't have discovery (or even those who do) I thoroughly recommend buying the season 1 box set. Nearly the best $50-odd you'll ever spend. Any tv show that regularly shows the work of guys like Trepannier and Foose gets my vote. Quadradeuce, Rogans Hemi cuda, FastForward are my personal favourites, as well as many others I've forgotten.

I appreciate they're ability and everything to build a beautiful car but to do it in 7 days and be done properly with everything working is stretching the imagination abit , I mean the guy i was talking about in my last post said he had 5 guys working on his car for 2years full time to get it perfect.

wereas to fully do up a camaro or similar in the states is relatively easy with the amount of aftermarket parts etc available. also the guys working on the car have tonnes of exprerience with those cars aswell

The Enzo's came out at $600,000 new but you can pick one up for about $2,000,000 used!. The West Coast Customs Lamborghini Diablo VT has albino alligator interior. Some people have too much money.

Jay Lenos 67 Oldsmobile Toronado which had 2 late Corvettes in the make over was awsome in converting it to rear wheel drive and the smokees it was able to do. One car I would take.
The Dodge Charger is another car I admired. buickman |

40 mil!
I was of the educated impression that the most expensive car in the world was the Bugatti Royale of 1912? Or maybe it has the highest value of any non unique car... I dunno?

heres a thought
if you have a car that is so valuable and irrecplaceable then no ammount of insurance is gonna change that righr.....if you pranged that silver ghost and got it repauired it wouldn't be worth near as much right? which gets me thinkin that if your cars so rare that went u damage it its worthless anyway...why get isurance for it?? |

how bout in case its ever stolen and chopped into tiny pieces? Or if its written off completely? No amount of money could replace it but it isnt priceless. If the owner ver sold it it would have a price, no?

I think the insurance premium may have something to do with it aswell,
Even the richest of the rich are only prepared to spend so much money on one thing , I mean if you insured it for $100mill , how much would it cost per year to insure? more than you or I will ever earn thats for sure, And the insurance Co would have there estimation/limit as to its worth aswell

I think with cars like that it would be agreed value only. If they want to insure it for insane amounts of cash then the insurance company reserves the right to charge insane dollars for the insurance. Its easy money really, the car would be behind some serius security and it would take a very professional thief to steal it. It would rarely be driven so that limits the risk of accidental damage.
Also, if anybody did manage to steal it, how hard would it be to move or sell it?
