Default MK2 chassis id

anyone know how to decode the chassis number on a mk2 escort? trying to work out if the one i just bought is a rally pack, or anything special...

Rally Pack was just a std GL with bolt on bits. There is no special code for it but a genuine one will have tell-tail signs like the relays under the bonnet and holes drilled in the front crossmember for the driving light mounts. Early ones had better seats with perforated vinyl.
