Mine did the same after a transmission service, went back, he topped it up, all was well.

Deffinately what Stattic said, get some fluid into it, it should be fine. But then again, if it was low on fluid it wouldnt engage reverse either. Get a service and a flush, and all new fluid (which is what a flush is) and see how it goes after that.

Thats what makes me think its more then the fluid, cause when you put it in drive you here something spinning, but the car goes nowhere. But the speedometer moves like the car is driving.

ok but of an update, i looked under the car while it was in gear and when the car is in either 1,2,3,D the tail shaft spins, but there's a crunching sound coming from the drivers side rear wheel. Also when you reverse it moves but it there's a clunking sound coming from the back. So to me I think its the Differential or drive shaft, what do you think?

oops i didnt read that bit lol.... that is most puzzling
wow i just dont understand lol how is that even possible for there to be an issue past the tailshaft that lets you reverse but not go forward since the transmission is before that...
im thinking get the car towed and get it up on a hoist, somehow i dont think youre gona be driving out of there

same! on christmas eve i discovered my car had dropped basically ALL its tranny fluid and i only just managed to get it home banging in and out of gear and free revving in the wet and all kinds of crazy crap
the people who did my tranny cooler arent back till jan 6 and im not paying someone else to fix something that is probably the first place's stuff up, e.g a clamp that wasnt tightened properly so now i have to wait for ages to get my car fixed :(

Just get under it and top up the tranny oil, and find and stop the leak.

Often after a hurried service, the oil will be found to be low. once it heats, fills up everywhere etc, it may need a top up.

To the OP, You have either shot a Diff or broken an axle!

i got double lined hoses so im thinking its probably leaking where the clamp is

Yeah, a few months ago I changed my trans fluid inc torque converter and it was around 10 litres from mem.

Hmm, just thinking about it, now I'm not sure whether 2 x 5L of oil did the job or whether I bought a third 5L and used a bit of it....

edit: just checked Haynes. According to it 10L for "Dry Refill"

the reason its only reversing could be because the diff is turning the opposite way which is engaging the still good drive shaft.. where as the other could have snapped /lost some teeth hence will free spin and make bad noises when trying to drive forward..

jack the rear and spin your wheels ..should go 1 each way or both same way LSD depending...
