Default NEW SS comodore

Was in the car yard over the weekend and saw the new SS comodore with the pontiac front end and extras, what does everyone think of these? Are they here purely because of leftovers went the US market went under.

Im a ford man through and through but do appreciate the other options out there. I didnt like them first but saw one again this afternoon drive past and though it looked good on the road

I personally cannot stand the pontiac front ends.

Pretty funny that the yank public really like our version, and not pontiacs

I reckon they look quite good, heaps better than the standard Commode front end.

It may actually surprise a few here (a lot by the look of it) but they are not left over front ends at all.
The Genuine Pontiac front bar has an indentation for the Pontiac badge - these do not.
They have been made purposely for our market, and have the indentation for our badges.
There are also a few other minor differences between these bars and genuine Pontiac bars.
They are not left overs straight out of the parts bin at all - as much as it looks like it.

From all the pics i've seen there is no indentation in the pontiac front end for the badge. The badge merely sticks on between the 2 grills. There is also no indentation in the "special edition" front end. There is no Holden badge on the front.

I saw one on the weekend as well as I was window shopping. I don't mind the look (possibly just because it's different...) but find the FG much more aesthetically pleasing. If I had to pick between the traditional front and the Pontiac front, I'd probably the Pontiac.

I stand corrected about the indentation on the Aussie version (and no badge).
I was going on the info i have seen in this thread:
http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11282837
and also various threads from Holden Forums stating that the bar is not a parts bin special, that it is a different bar made specifically for the Aussie market.
The Pontiac badge indentation was also mentioned, from memory, from some members that had actually bought the Pontiac version of the bar from Holden.

I dont mind them that much , big improvment from the ss/ssv versions, i think they have some leds on the spoiler which is different but in saying that i still prefer the look of my fg xr front end.

Saw one a couple of weeks ago, I prefer the VE front end. But it is something different to own.

It wouldnt be left over parts, simply because car companies dont build massive stockpiles anymore. They use the Just in Time method, I know with some parts they are only sitting around for a few hours.

I think it looks good and is a good ploy.
More options for the consumer is never a bad thing.

The HSV GXP looks like a really good package for the price - even as an entry level package into the HSV lineup.
I think the Maloo GXP was around the 53k mark and the sedan was 56 or 59k.
Gotta give it to Holden (and HSV), they can generate interest out of anything - more than i can say for Ford.

Agree. There's a blue ute with this Pontiac front sitting at my local Holden Dealership and it's not that good looking.

I've seen a few utes on the road now and they don't look too bad IMO.

The upside is there is no space for a Chevy badge on the front !

IMO, IT LOOKS TOO BUSY NOW, and the leds underneath just look try hard.
Much prefer the front on my FG XR.
Wheels magazine just rubbished it too, in the "hulkimaniac" addition, not the front bar, but the whole car

Looks like it will stick around as a $1000 option. It's no longer a limited edition.
