Default 500hp XR6 To Compete in Superlap!

I just saw this on the Superlap website... holy crap, this thing should be mental.

Quote:
Fernandez Motorsport and Plazmaman have joined forces and will be entering a 500kw Supercar style XR6 turbo in the World Time attack challenge.
The car will be based around a V8 supercar style shell and running gear and powered by a highly developed turbo 4 litre twin cam six cylinder and Holinger gearbox.
If these two companies sound familiar it is with good reason.

Plazmaman has been behind many of Australia fastest turbo cars and were the creators of the S2000 that dominated the Clubsprint class in 2008 and Jose Fernandez is a highly accomplished V8 supercar driver with a wealth of both driving and engineering knowledge so you they will certainly be a team to watch very closely. Check out www.plazmaman.com.au

Very true, but last time I competed it was split into categories of the classes... AWD, RWD and N/A etc.

It might be a contender for RWD. At least a place.

Speaking of which, check out the S2000 in car footage of the RWD 2008 winner (driven by John Boston). Mental car, 10sec 1/4 and can take corners like this... looks like a handful though.

I almost flinched at the way he was taking corners

Good to see a Falcon built to the Japanise "track attack" style of modding.

The Evo 10's are still trying to match the FD's 1997 time when they were basically banned. but that could change this Feb at the 12 Hour

AWD is for rallying and people who cannot drive.

Keep an eye on Brad T's FD RX-7. Especially if he buys my Holinger. http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthr...80#post3013380

It may not win but amongst the low budget club level home built in a shed (by a Chiropractor) cars it will be up there.

Should be fastest Chiropractor built car!

the fd rx7s are an incredible automobile I must say they were and are still very fast rear wheel drive cars - mazda built an incredible machine with that one - pity the rx8 is so lame in comparison

AWD isn't going to be a problem for handling, it's actually a disadvantage in cornering from my experience, but advantage in getting out of the corners - somewhere where the XR shouldn't be too bad off (we can hope) if it has decent slicks.

I reckon the wheelbase length might slow it down a bit if it's on Oran park again though, correct me if I'm wrong. Similar enough to Tsukuba (and decommissioned), no wonder it's Time Attack track.

Bugger. Oran was a good little circuit. I knew it had been decomissioned, but for some reason it didn't pop up in my mind that this meant for every club / league / etc.

Looks like the Honda S2000 needed some real sorting

1.22 ish
1.18 ish
1.18 ish

translate to off the pace for superlap

Those cars are insane

Overboosted to the point where they tighten the heads every 3 laps on the Evo

New tyres every 3 laps

Sorry Trippy to go slightly off topic but to put that in perspective, yesterday at OP a bloke called Daniel Flanagan did what was I believe the fastest official lap ever by a ute

http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/re...1/2010.ORGP.Q1

Then this morning he bettered it with a 1.20.03. Incredible effort I reckon in a production ute.

Only 6.5 seconds off the 7 Litre Mosler today in a production eBay ute and DNF later so maybe it blew up

1.20..03 in a standard VY SS Ute bought for $15k off eBay.

Standard brakes, sensors etc etc. Amazing time for any ute. It's well set up (He works for a few Brute teams)

The Maloo ute in the results is supercharged - 400RWKW HSV ute and the Ford ute is a Souped up X Brute AU ute but they were both slower

I think the brutes do about 1.23's?

That's alright... I forgot this thread was even here. Ha! Short term memory is starting to go. Better lay off the beers.

I agree about the corruption of the State Gov when it comes to this... seriously, the land release around that area (all owned by one dairy farming family, right?) is ridiculous. Slow, costly, noise regulations for a race track that already existed??? I mean come on!

The winners of Superlap are doing 1:12. Pretty mental times.
