PS3 GT5 Academy Lap Times!

Hey guys, thought it would be a good idea if everyone posts up their quickest lap times for the new demo Gran Turismo 5 Acamedy on PS3.

This is a layout you can follow so it easy to read:

Mode: Tuned/Normal

Controller Type: Normal Control/Steering Wheel

View: In car/Outside/Front Bar

Transmission: AT/MT

Traction Control: 1 - 10/Off

Driving Line: On/Off

Time: 0.00.000

Rank at the time:

Just make the tuned and normal lap time separate, and mention your combined time!

Man you guys are fast, I played it for a couple of hours in the tuned car the night it came out at a realitives house and couldn't go under 1:40. I got like 1:40.1 with a wheel with traction control turned off, I was really struggling to do better than that. I will have another go at some stage (when I get a wheel myself since I can't do the whole controller thing on car sims) I didn't have the driving line on maybe I could learn somthing by that but mostly I was just getting a feel for the new engine (I like it)

I'd recommend getting a Logitech G25 (that's what i'm using now). Great wheel and you should be able to pick it up cheaper now that the Logitech G27 is out.

My force feedback is set to max on 10 with simulation mode and no power steering (feels alot better with these settings for the people with wheels)

Don't follow the the given line, its useless and will make you slower (turn it off). Avoid wheelspin at all costs (short shift if you have to, to get traction). Avoid going into oversteer at all costs too... Smooth = fast.

Also modulate the brakes as if your car doesn't have abs as it seems to pull up faster. Try and do all your braking in a straight line too and if you have to trail brake only use a small percentage as it seems to really upset the cars balance.

No cost for the 'game' - just the download usage through your ISP. (about 300MB from memory)

I've only been playing with the road car - with the stock dualshock 3 controls.
Good reason to get a g25 or g27.....

I downloaded this the other day, jeez the set-up on both those cars must be so $#!thouse they are terrible to drive, i'll post my times after i give it a better crack.

yeh true.. the normal car handles terrible lol, its tricky to make it go fast around the track

What is the GT5 Academy? I haven't heard of it. I haven't been in any game circle news lately. Is it part of GT5 prologue? or GT5 on PSP, & how do you get it?

You can download it on the PS3 store for free.. its about 217mb.. im not to sure on what happens, maybe some one else can describe it to you.

My normal car lap time was going so good and then I hit the wall right at the end lol, and that added about .500 onto it! spewing!

I was ranked 90 when I did the lap times but I haven't played it for few days and people just keep pushing me down!

congrates mate. I tried my hardest at it, can i just ask how the hell did you get it into the 1.35s? I tried everything, ended up being 1.5 seconds off the pace.

I finished in 102 position lol.. i reckon i could of made the top 50 I was ranked 89 at one stage but I gave up like 2 weeks ago when i found out I wasnt old enough to make the contest so there was no point! fun thought..

XRFutura, it was a balance of aggression and keeping it smooth. Trying to keep the cornering speed up without overcooking it... too slow and the car would either become unstable and wobble around or just be plain slow. Too much throttle overcooks it and around it goes (pretty easy in the normal car I'd think you'd agree). Was also about being extremely smooth, no stabbing on the brakes or throttle and smooth steering inputs.

David they'll probably run another one as they already had one before this, just us Aussies weren't allowed to enter. So you might be old enough to have a crack then?
